On a positive note I feel like a gorilla at the gym. I’m huge!
How long until I'm back in ketosis? Any bets?
Depending on what you’re doing, I’m betting on 1-2 days.
The factor I’m curious about is you seem to have a decent amount of muscle. While working out a lot should make things faster, Muscle is where glycogen is primarily stored, from my understanding, so I’d figure more muscle = more glycogen storage. Normally that wouldn’t matter since more muscle also would simply mean you wouldn’t fully refile your glycogen stores in one day, but 2000g of carbs might be able to do the trick on that one. Still, I thought the glycogen stores were only a days worth (presumably more muscle also means faster usage). This is an area I’m not greatly familiar with so just trying to piece some data points together.
Glycogen is very small, even if you’re huge. It’s not going to absorb 10lbs of food.
Your best bet is that your body processes it inefficiently and it passes through you as fast as possible.
The insulin response is probably massive and prolonged so you might as well use it to be anabolic and build up. The reality is that the insulin signaling will convert most of it into fat anyway so you’ll be back to normal glucose and can start rebuilding ketones in 2-3 days to your 1.5. But you’ll also have put on a nice chunk of fat.
Just beware the emotional ride getting off the insulin. I don’t mean the hunger… need to watch out for serotonin and dopamine. After a binge, you can hit depression - need to muscle through that emotional wall.
Oh- and irritability… comes back hard after a binge.
I find that physical pain helps… fasting, extended sauna, heavy lifting, HIIT… good luck.
Kris I am also interested in how you feel with both fasting and exercising. Is it an extended fast (more than 24 hours)?
Wow, that’s quite a relapse.
I doubt I’d be back, after bingeing like that. In fact, I’d probably decide to go get drunk, too, and no one would ever see me again.
I know I’m late to the party, but based on my own (somewhat milder) experience it’s going to take you a week to see a decent reading.
But then, you’re fasting and working out so should speed things up some- or send you straight back to the carb train (stay strong!).
I’m going to go with 5 days. I’m clearly the biggest pessimist so far.
Eat when you get hungry enough. Just make sure it’s fat and protein, not carbohydrate.
You will burn up all that sugar like it’s nothing, you have nothing to worry about and from your pic you are in good dam shape, I just wouldn’t make all those carbs my main dietary staple very long but a binge here and their will do nothing to somebody with your kind of health reserve!
If you been keto for a year you should not really be seeing anything on a pee stick but low pink or negative?
Even with a blood meter, you will have a difficult time registering them?
If your really really lean the only ketones you might see is dietary fat?
All that sugar/carbs you ate was burned up by your muscle mass, none of it got stored as adipose fat or inside the adipose fat if you had any to begin with?
I ask this is the most respectful way but…how? Lol I think i may have hurled after the first half of the list. Such is life though… Bacon and eggs!
I thought it was 1 and I was in awe of your intake lolol
