Just curious what the process is to find my Carb limit to stay in Keto? I have been on a 20 g limit for 1 month. I am 6’7” and was 360 now 344…
How do I calculate the amount of Carbs my body will tolerate and still stay in Keto?
By slow increases and blood ketone testing, as long as you’re adapted. There’s no magic formula as everyone’s body is different. Try increasing 5g at a time and test to see how you get on.
Also know that your tolerance for them will probably change as your body changes. You may find you can handle more carbs now, but as you lose weight and start to stall, you may find out the same amount of carbs begins to kick you out of ketosis.
I’ve been in ketosis for over 2 years now. Thinking about doing the same thing. I hate tracking so I’d like to find a good way to figure out how many carbs I can tolerate without going out of ketosis. I’ve had a sweet potato or two recently and didn’t take me out of ketosis. I know I can have a craft beer or two and still be back into ketosis within about a day. So I may have a pretty good tolerance for carbs now. I’m slowly adding certain carbs on occasion just to see if anything knocks me out. I don’t really measure but I can definitely tell when I’m out of ketosis.
You’ll find it takes quite a few to knock you out of Lipolysis, rather than ketosis. When I was doing glycogen recompensation, I’d usually still be producing ketones 24hrs after I started eating carbs. I suggest trying one carb based meal to start, then going to one day, and eventually two in a row. Just remember to allow glycogen levels to deplete between Carb Events so it doesn’t become a chronic pattern.
I suspect the more sedentary you are the more strict you’ll need to be wiith carbs.
