Horrendous health in Samoa

I stumbled upon a documentary on diabetes and overweight in the Samoan population. During and after watching it I am so shaken by what I just saw. Never mind that the reporter thinks fat is unhealthy, we are all used to that. But to see what has become of those people is so upsetting. I was sad, angry, upset and down right horrified… After watching it I found a review written by professor Grant Schofield, on a study of how a “thrifty-gene” in the Samoan population should protect them from diabetes. That made the whole documentary even more horrendous. The article also has some remarkable historic photos to put the whole thing into context.
I really needed to went after this. Maybe someone else finds it of interest? I also think that the documentary might be useful to share with friends or family struggling with T2D who wont see the reality of what food is doing to them.
