well. may have found an endo(actually his np) who will actually work with me to heal diabetes…through diet. the last three have tried to 1. have me increase carbs so that i can take insulin. 2. threatened me with death and destruction unless i take…insulin…cholesterol meds…aspirin and lots of other lovely pharmaceuticals. 3. marked me as uncooperative. --as you can tell some of these appts have gotten kinda ugly.
lovely people…stunned by my results (a1c down from 13 in July to 6.5 in april) and still they demand that i must take meds. haven’t met with new nurse practitioner yet…but hope springs eternal…maybe this one will actually hear and participate with me in this grand adventure. if not i will slog on. n=1?
oh. blood work next week for old endo…and will start bio hack tomorrow…three day fast followed by three day feast…see how my lipid numbers improve for the new nurse practioner. woo hoo
Hope springs eternal.maybe a dr to actually work with me?
You sound highly motivated. Have you checked the list of low carb doctors?
http://lowcarbdoctors.blogspot.com/
thanks for list. none in my area. seeking someone to at least work with me…even if it is outside ada recommendations. someone will be receptive. or i will continue on to be ‘cured’ show me the science.
If it were me, I would ask those conceited doctors for a list of people that they had cured of diabetes. If they look at you blankly and say “it is a progressive disease, there is no cure”, then you know that they are shills for Big Pharma, and I would give up on them. But if you get a list, call up the people and ask how they did it.
Otherwise, listen to the Dudes, Jimmy Moore, Tim Noakes, Jason Fung, Ted Naiman, and many others who were able to reverse or otherwise control T2D.
But I would put them on the spot (they are rather harshly putting you on the spot with regard to insulin, etc). “If you call yourself a Doctor, can you cure people, or not? Yes or No please! If the answer is no, then please don’t waste my time because I know about other options that seem to work for thousands of people.” (Yes, show your teeth).
Congrats.
With a 6.5 %pt drop your rate of all diabetic events has dropped to almost 1/3 (2.8x reduced risk), your rate of myocardial infarct has dropped to half (2.05x reduced risk) and your risk of micro vascular disease (which can result in blindness, kidney disease, amputation) has dropped a massive 1/5th (5.6x reduced risk). Keep going tho. Under 6.1 is apparently the threshold below which we are no longer killing beta cells off (glycotoxicity) faster than we can make new ones.
As far as the standard of care goes 6.5% only just qualifies as diabetic (5.7 - 6.4 is prediabetic, 6.5+ is type 2 diabetic). They are right to be concerned at your current HbA1c but they should be jumping up[ and down and going “Woop Woop” at how far it’s dropped, cos many doctors can’t medicate patients to drop from 13% to 6.5% and you are doing that with no medication.
Good for you being an informed medical consumer and advocate for your health. When you find the right doctor, he or she will recognize you for that and be supportive, not confrontive.
Hope your new doctor works out.
you are da best. i know i have a long road to follow…but truly/ ain’t it great? yes, much to learn but also…progress progress progress…and here? amazing support and people as i negotiate the path. thank you
thank you. you put this perfectly. probably my fault that it becomes confrontive…or even just unpleasant. i’m working on becoming a smoother operator. thanks for your kind words.
unfortunately…i emulate your attitude and think i need to be more accomodating (not accepting) just less of a challenge intentional or not, working on improving my dealings…or maybe making my rejection of suggestions less obvious? you know fluffier/less fact based? no mattr thanks for your input and support. blessings
Good job healing yourself … KCKO!
