HOLIDAYS 🎄= Roadtrips.. need snack ideas

(Anabel ) #1

So the holidays are upon us and it’s time for a road trip home… 20 hour drive for our family tomorrow night :expressionless: so if everyone can give me some snacks that are a good keto choice id appreciate it. I know so far pork rinds are ok and beef jerky, I also have some pepperoni with cream cheese. But what about the fast food/ gas station stops… Is it ok to get a burger and only eat the patty?

I’m driving half way and what usually keeps me awake are sunflower seeds. But I’m sure I eat way to many. How does everyone else stay awake? I’ve recently switched to decaf since regular coffee made me feel like I was having a panic attack. :astonished::fearful: I do have MTC oil so I guess that in my coffee will give me a boost. This will be my first healthy road trip :joy: usually it’s the best time to indulge on the worst. But any advice helps. Thanks!!

See if you can find single serve coconut oil packets. I keep a bunch in my desk at work.
Nuts are a convenient choice, usually you can find an ok option at gas stations for those at least.
A number of fast food restaurants will make a burger without a bun (just in a dish or wrapped in lettuce), skip the ketchup and go for extra mayo.

Yep.

Only if it’s a double cheeseburger and you order it with bacon.

Why snack? Why not just eat regular meals, and drink water or other non-caloric beverages in between? Or is this some sort of non-stop driving marathon?

I usually fast during these periods.

You’re not from around here, are you? Americans will drive, even when it’s more convenient and less time-consuming to fly. I’d almost rather be parted from my cell phone than from my car. Just sayin’

Yes, I am from around here, and I have done my fair share of driving and travel by plane. My point was not that they should not drive, but that it’s OK to stop to eat.

If you won’t be stopping to eat real meals these have worked for me in the past:

sparkling water
hard salami slices
cheese cubes
almond flour crackers (lots of recipes for those on the 'net.)
Duke’s shorty sausages I never found a jerky I liked as well and as low carb as these.
jicama sticks and/or celery with Wholy Guacamole for dipping

Happy Trails and keto on.

We don’t need no filthy, stinking food breaks!

Awesome! I’m in the middle of no where North Dakota so I doubt I can find individual packs of coconut oil but I will keep that in mind when I’m back home. I didn’t even know that was a thing lol thanks!

(Anabel ) #17

That’s what I’m probably going to aim for is cheese.

(Anabel ) #18

This is true… But I guess because road trips have always been fun snacking hanging out with the family. Your right though this would have to be a time to change old habits.

(Anabel ) #19

I think I will try to fast half the trip. Thanks

Thanks for all the ideas! I love them all!

That’s what it comes down to lol
