No weight loss and it’s killing me…started on the 15 October had 6 kg water weight …still No Ketones in my breath and as we all know urosticks are useless as their showing nothing which to me shows I’m utilising what I’m producing. … Not seeing the weight loss is hard… I know in my head and  that it’s reworking my insides and years of food abuse, insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome etc… I’m a Nurse and I get the science 100% BUT I sustained a neck injury at work 2 weeks into Keto and it’s been hell as I have never involvement major pain, I’m on mega amounts meds, trying to relocate my beauty clinic from its current location to my home by organising others to do it, seeing a orthopaedic surgeon on Tuesday… Stress streesss ETC ETC ETC. I am used to eating my emotions and haven’t this time around but it’s just so hard to see gains not losses when I’m under caloric goal AND low carb under 20g. I have my macros set but keep getting different numbers of what I should be having from Ppl and websites so I don’t know anymore what I’m aiming for … I know just gotta hang in there for the long haul… But is Soooo HARD … So much info so many macros so many goals and nothing to show for the hard work as I’m not even losing inches…yer we I’ve had some red wine on the days it’s been super hard with pain etc but as the Dudes say alcohol pauses ketosis and since I’m testing negative in breath anyways… Meh . Will I give up? NO WAY JOSE… but I need some positive input

Calculators can throw up some pretty varied numbers so maybe pick one & stick with it but it’s not really an exact science. FWIW I’ve noodled around on a few just for giggles & this https://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ one probably came closest to what I’ve been intuitively doing.

I imagine all the stress you’re under & the meds you’re on are probably having a major impact so perhaps now is not the time to be trying for a calorie deficit.

Stress hormones block fat utilization the same as insulin will. I’d keep with the keto plan, work on reducing the stress (hard I know), and don’t expect results until life factors start to normalize. Just my 2 cents.

Especially when first embarking on a ketogenic diet, don’t count calories at all. Just keep your carbohydrate low and eat to satiety. In the absence of insulin, your leptin signal will soon start getting through to your hypothalamus again, and you will find your appetite dropping. At that point, if you listen to your body, you will be automatically restricting calories to a viable level for weight loss. But don’t count calories on purpose, that is likely to bollix things up.

Two points to bear in mind: first, you are in the very first stage of this way of eating. I doubt you are even fat-adapted yet. Second, unless you have hundreds of pounds to lose, you are not going to lose as rapidly as people do in those stories. Third, the people who lose weight that rapidly tend to be the chaps, not the chapesses. Women’s hormones make weight loss a very different experience for women. Not to say it won’t happen, but you have to give it time before deciding keto is not for you. Also, you may put on lean mass, which will make the scale unreliable as a marker of progress. I suggest keeping track of your measurements instead.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly for you right now, stress raises your cortisol, and therefore your serum glucose and serum insulin. Even under the best of all other circumstances, this will make weight loss difficut. So relax, you’re doing fine. Just give it plenty of time and keep on ketoing on.

Like others said - stress and meds.

On the bright side… if you weren’t keto you might be gaining weight instead of not losing.

Hope you feel better soon.
