Hit my run goal

(LeeAnn Brooks) #1

I’m putting this in NSV instead of running because if it weren’t for Keto, I don’t think I would have hit this goal as quickly as I did.

The goal was to run a half marathon by the end of August.

I did it yesterday instead.

I’m pretty sore today, but I’m mentally ready to get out there and do another one. Pretty good since last time I did a HM (2 years ago pre-Keto) I swore I would never do another one again.

This is a major NSV for me.:running_woman:t3:

Way to go :tada:

Did you by a 13.1 car magnet? :muscle:t3:

(LeeAnn Brooks) #4

I have one from 2 years ago, but this race didn’t have them.
It’s part of a series called Run Michigan Cheap, so they don’t do the bells and whistles. Just a cheap T and a plastic meddle. But like it’s says, it’s cheap.

Congrats, I did 5 miles this morning in high heat and hymidity. Still driving liquids back into me.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #6

Yeah, that heat will make a run difficult.

Luckily we had a very moderate temp with just a tinsy bit of misty rain for a short spell during this race. The misty part was rather enjoyable.

Woot woot :clap:t3::clap:t3::clap:t3:
Lets run a HM together - you would beat me by 13miles…

(LeeAnn Brooks) #12

Thanks @Rajseth. I needed a laugh right about now.:joy:

(Raj Seth) #13

Typo. “13.1 miles”

LeeAnn –

You are certainly one of the most positive, thoughtful and encouraging people on this board. Congrats on the half marathon. As I was a distance runner myself in high school, I can appreciate what you’ve achieved. You deserve the success!

(LeeAnn Brooks) #15

Thank you. I appreciate it.

Congrats, that’s amazing!

QQ: I started keto last winter, after a half marathon. It’s been about 7 months and I have been afraid to try longer distances than 5-6 miles, because when I started keto I hit this huge “wall” at the 6 mile mark. Anyway, it’s almost race season (Florida) where I am and I have been very nervous about managing longer distances without carbs. How did the 13.1 go for you? Did you fuel with any carbs at all? I am faster and leaner than I was before I started keto, but these days I am more likely to do sprint intervals on the tread or a “fun run” outside than brave longer mileage!
