Hi all!! I am prediabetic just found out in Jan been doing very low carb high fat since lost 18 lbs have 50 more to go…My question is it ok to eat eggs with the yolk everyday and how many per day? I don’t know what else to eat a few days I eat sausage patties with cheese but I enjoy the eggs more…Also is regular stick butter ok to put in coffee never did it but would like to try can you get too much fat in a day and would it stop weight loss? Thanks for any help…For lunch I have been eating swiss and ham rolled up 2 of them…Is that a good choice? Is it ok for everyday? By the way I feel fantastic back pain gone!

Hi @JuneF, welcome. I see no problem in eating eggs especially the yolks every day or putting butter in your coffee. For the coffee coconut oil and heavy whipping cream (HWC) are also great.

The ham and cheese roll ups are fine. I like to dip mine in mayonnaise. You may get bored doing the same thing every day. I would throw in some salad too😎.

Steak. Hot dogs browned in bacon grease, bacon, bacon, did I mention bacon? Eat to satiety. Don’t calorie count. Your body will tell you. As your persistent insulin levels drop, so will your body’s set point and hunger will abate. Then the magic 3 rules

Eat when hungry
Eat till satiety
Don’t eat when not hungry

Once hunger is gone, you can look into fasting to turbocharge progress. Right now you just want to repair your metabolism and up your BMR

Six eggs with 6-8 bacon strips is a great breakfast- that will keep you satisfied till dinner even!!

Wow 6 eggs?? I was doing egg beaters 1/2 cup with one egg,spinach,cheese and butter… Is it better to eat a huge breakfast and skip lunch? Thanks for the help!

I also have graves disease for 10 yrs now hoping this throws me into remission! Most people lose weight with this hyperthyroid that comes with it but 20% gain! Lucky me…

Down the road you might need to track your fat, but for getting started, stick to the basics:

  • 20g or less of net carbs per day
  • moderate protein scaled to your lean body mass
  • fat to satiety

When you’re hungry, eat fat. At this stage, you’ll know you’ve had enough fat when you’re nauseous. Eggs are all good, in fact for a little extra fat, I’ll do scrambled eggs with 4 whole eggs and 4 extra yokes. Then cook them up in butter or bacon nectar.

Yes. It’s better to eat to satiety and let your body tell you when to eat again. Maybe skip morning meal and break fast at midday. Then have an early dinner and repeat. That is the definition of 16:8 IF. Allows your insulin level to be lower for longer

Yes, regular butter is fine for coffee. Look for food ideas on pintrest!

You’re doing well.

I’m not sure what it’s like where you are, but around here premade sausages and patties can and usually do contain carbs from things like corn starch and bread crumbs. I check the nutritional panels before I buy. Actually I buy minced (ground) meat and make my own, 0 carbs.
