Hi everyone

Hi everyone,

I joined here a few weeks back and tried to go on a ketogenic diet and it lasted all of two days. I failed miserably:sob:

I’ve been listening to the podcasts from 2ketodudes and signed up to dietdoctor.com and I am 100% determined to do this.

My keto lifestyle begins today. I’m going to be recording everything I eat on fatsecret.com to make sure I remain under 20g net carbs each day but get the right levels of fat and proteins as I am a keen amateur cyclist and need to ensure I recover properly.

My weight has gone up to 108kg and I just can’t seem to lose any weight eating what’s suposed to be a healthy high carb/low fat diet. so I’m determined to give keto a good go.

Thanks
George

First 2 weeks can be tough. But you can do it!

Hi George

You may see a dip in performance at first so be prepared for that, but get through it and you’ll tap into the best energy supply you’ve ever felt (once you’re adapted to fat burning).

This is a great community, any questions, ask away

Thanks Allie. I’ll be sure to keep tht in mind when the going gets tough.

Thanks Peter. I’d read that it can be tough in the beginning.

Welcome and good luck @GeorgeA11965.

Track everything you eat and as long as your macros are right you’ll be good to go :muscle:t2:

Thanks Lee

Whatever you do, add salt and more water and enjoy extra pieces of :bacon: ! You’re in the right place…

(George Anderson) #9

Thanks Linda. I’ll be sure to do that.

Hi @GeorgeA11965, I’m a newbie too, only in for 2.5 weeks so far, and trust me, if you’re strict with macros, it gets better quickly. As long as you keep those carbs way down and do not overdo the protein (have just the amount you need, nothing more, since all excess is converted to glucose, exactly what you want to avoid), plus sprinkle on the salt and enjoy lots of water, the cravings and that horrid ‘flu’ eases up after week 2. At least it did for me, but I believe those are the keys to success. You / we can do it! Keep it up.

Welcome, George!

Well heck, that ain’t that bad… It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and we can always get going again.
