Hey all, I just wanted to say

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #1

I really appreciate all of the civility here. I know my way of thinking… (WOT ? lol) is often a bit extreme, and out in left field somewhere, especially with my “Dirty Keto” and all…

Its kind of ironic, but some of you might remember me posting about this… Several weeks ago, only a few weeks into my Keto journey, I had actually been visiting a FB page, set up specifically for “Dirty Keto” practicers. So, one might think that Id have fit right in. Ha ! Not the case. All I had to do was mention that there were more OP’s on the site, having to do with cheats and fails, than their were success stories (the truth hurts I guess)… and instantly, I became like the Anti Christ ! lol I amassed more than 200 hate posts in 2 hrs !

So now I come here, to a place “not known” for Dirty Keto (although of course their are a few of us here) and you guys have just really handled my extreme thoughts quite well

Thank you. Again, I appreciate it

I think you’ll find this corner of the internet is a haven for many of us who prefer to avoid drama, rigid dogma, and absolutes.

This forum is amazing; it is full of Keto people that are very compassionate, kind, understanding and are willing to share their personal experiences with others. This includes our victories, and struggles, and I think that most of us realize that what works for some, does not work for all. The people are very aware that Keto is awesome, but also diverse. Some people prefer one style; while others prefer another, and in general, we try to respect and acknowledge that on here I think. I certainly appreciate all of the support, encouragement and amazing advice and knowledge that so many of the wonderful people here have shared with me, since I joined in early June as well =).

Ha, ha!!! I’m sorry, but this struck me so funny!

Maybe “when in doubt, don’t,” although you have to do you.

:joy:

What’s an OP?

I think this forum has a pretty healthy Walk Away culture. If you don’t like something pass it by. It’s nice that we don’t feel the need to comment about every single thing we disagree with here. Instead, I choose to use my words helping and encouraging (or being funny). So Chris, you lucked out when you landed here and also…well, FB is a nightmare. The only page I could stand to be on at the end was my sewing circle group.

OP stands for original poster, Marianne =).

I guess after over five years eating this way I wasn’t really sure what “dirty keto” meant…I thought it was something like “lazy keto.” Where you basically just eat whatever keto-ish foods you want…

(Liz) #8

Agree totally @FishChris, have received a warm welcome…despite being a little ‘dirty’ myself :joy:.
This feels a very safe place to discuss our woe and accepting of the differences and variations within it.
@Momof5 is also right! so many great people always ready to help.

In fact I agree with everyone above! This forum keeps me going, thank you all :+1::clap::smiley:

(Marianne) #9

Thanks, Susan. I don’t know most of these terms!

(Marianne) #10

Oh, I thought they were one and the same and used interchangeably - what’s the diff.?

To me, “dirty keto” means primarily eating processed keto or other franken-keto foods, not the highest quality food we can afford. “Lazy keto” means not rigidly counting carbs or tracking macros, but subliminally aiming for the lowest carbs per day by making each choice with the best, most low carb option. For example, my one meal today was liver, ground beef, some heavy whipping cream, squirt of lemon, and cilantro. I didn’t bother counting those carbs because (a) I’m lazy like that (hence the name); and (b) I know I’m good and still in ketosis.

Again, to me, “dirty keto” has a perjorative connotation to it, whereas “lazy keto” does not. It’s merely a descriptive term (perhaps "Zen Keto "would have been a more appropriate choice. )

I agree that this forum may be the nicest, most supportive forum on the web. It really is special. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

(Ellen ) #13

Thanks…was wondering the same.

(Marianne) #14

Got it; thank you!

I am not even keto, and I love being here. I have learned a lot and I appreciate it.

(Bob M) #16

I have no idea what “dirty keto” is.

(Bob M) #17

I see. I was originally dirty keto (though with a lot of “clean” eating too), and now I’m primarily lazy keto. Though I don’t think it’s lazy. I think of it as more like “sane” keto. Who the heck wants to weigh everything all the time? And even if you weigh it, realize that you’ll be off the actual calories/carb conten anyway?

I usually eat just meat and some vegetables. Blunch (about 10 am after exercising an hour about 7-8 am, no bfast) today is beef liver, two types of cheeses (blue and goat), with some olives and a can of oysters. Tonight, I’ll have pulled pork with some sauces. Tomorrow, no food until Thursday.

If I had to measure that, it would suck.

I got so sick of the “WOO” button at MFP. The same group of people would light it up if I mentioned keto. When I told someone that their “woo meter” was going to peg out after posting something regarding keto the admins banned me. I am glad they did because I found this site and it is much less stressful here.

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #19

So based on the definitions above, I am both “Dirty” and “Lazy” Keto  Yet I jumped on the scale an hour ago, and was the lightest again, that I have been in more than 10 years… 208.2. Honestly, I don’t even want to average any less than that. But I feel good this morning… even after driving like 40+ hours in the last 3 days. Today is my recoup day, and making my chore list + cooking and eating

Thanks again for all your replies.

I think this explains it prettty well.
I’m in the lazy keto group since being in maintenance, was pretty strict keto before that.
