I’ve been researching Keto for a few months now, and I decided I would give it a go. I had heard how hard it can be for heavy carb eaters to get started, so I went a week on ~100g a day not worrying about fatty foods. I lost 10 pounds in 10 days! I’ve since been gradually reducing my carbs, and a few days later my ketone strip was a good deal darker than previous days. I loaded up on fat and lowered my carbs the next day (yesterday). I ate 55g of carbs and loaded up on rib eye, chorizo, Dubliner cheese, and avacado. Yesterday, I ate over 2200 calories, and I lost more weight! I eat pepitas, mushrooms, spinach, and avacado. I sip keto-aid if I feel a headache coming on and it goes away. I realized when I woke up today that I hadn’t eaten in 20 hours! I haven’t been restricting myself or anything. I just wasn’t hungry. When I walked by chips at the store yesterday, I just looked at my shopping cart and reminded myself of what I was going to eat when I got home! Isn’t the first week supposed to be brutal?
Thanks to all who have shared their stories and tips here and to @carl and @richard for spreading the science via the podcast!
