Help think I’m hypoglycemic

#1

I just took a blood glucose test and I’m reading 61 mg/dL …is this normal for zero carb low carb Diets?? I forgot to mention my ketone blood test is saying 2.9

(Elizabeth Baker) #2

Are you diabetic? What’s your normal BG reading?

#3

My keystone blood test said 2.9
No not diabetic
I’m just wondering what this means I’m a noob

61 is normal for non-diabetics. How do you FEEL? My mom is diabetic, so her bs routinely runs 100+, so when she drops below that, she feels shaky. So a lot depends on what is usualy for you.

I’m tired but I’m also only a week on a carnivore diet, I’m hoping this is just still adaption period and nothing more

(Cindy) #6

If you’re feeling ok (and tired is ok), I wouldn’t worry about it.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #7

I’m nondiabetic and I am routinely at 94 during the day.

Ok is any of this an indication of fat adaption or no? Does it indicate anything at all lol? I’m tired but I am also a very busy person with work .

I am not diabetic but (after recording blood ketones and glucose daily for over a month) I found that I sit in the 80’s and 90’s on keto and the 60’s after fasting a few days. I think the effects of Carnivore on blood glucose might be closer to fasting than classic keto (which would be good I think). My lowest reading after a longer fast was 47 - ketones that day were 5.7.

you can not come to a conclusion from one or two readings.

you need to monitor for longer time

I think this is good indication and I have seen many people like that when they go to very low carb.

I am diabetic and could go that low when zero carb.

Well what’s considered low carb, I aloud myself a keto milk shake tonight …I failed my carnivore hahaha. Nah really though I am almost strictly all animal products but tonight I’m guilty of cacao and pb2 powder in coconut cream milk with heavy cream and swerve sweetener. Omg it was so good. Shhh don’t tell. I would say though outside of my one keto milkshake (that I must say was so good)…I probably am close to zero carb I may get a few carbs from my coffee creamer but not much. Do ketos allow them selves around 20 carbs? I guess I’m still adjusting and my fatigue could be from that because it’s really only been a week doing carnivore…hmmm…I’m starting to think that keto milkshake is me craving sugar, but hey nobody’s perfect.
