Help! I think my HWC is bunk :(

(Jessica A) #1

Guys, I’m gutted. I just bought HWC from Costco and there’s dextrose in it :sob: Should I be concerned? Carbs stated are still 1g per tbsp.

What does HWC stand for?

(LeeAnn Brooks) #3

Umm, yes. You can buy HWC with zero carbs. I buy Meijer brand, but I don’t know if you have that in your area. Check out store brands. They sometimes have simpler ingredients. Found the same thing to be true with cream cheese vs Philadelphia.

But on a positive note, you can bring it back to Costco for a full refund. Even if opened, as long as you have 50% of the product.

Heavy whipping cream

(Allie) #5

Its not ideal but with such a low amount I wouldn’t worry, just put it down to the learning process and remember to read the label before you buy next time

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it has around 5-7g per cup. But because the per serving amount is under 0.5 they can put 0 on the label.

Luckily, here in Germany, manufacturers are required by law to put nutritional values in 100g/ml, not per serving sizes. So I know that 100g/ml of HWC has 2-3 carbs and protein depending on the brand.

My opinion is that heavy whipping cream is a natural food and a good source of fat for keto if it is just a few tablespoons added to coffee.

If some company molested it (i.e. processed it) to remove all of the carbs - it would likely, along the way, ruin some of the health benefits of the natural fats.

Agreed. The main thing should be no additional carbs as in the case of @Jessica_A

(Mandy) #11

My partner mistakenly bought a different brand of HWC than I usually get. When I looked at the label it had less than 1g carbs but the ingredients listed carrageenan. Oohh Noooo! Not for me!

(LeeAnn Brooks) #12

That may be, but my HWC does not contain dextrose. Now any other “ose” additive.

#13

Its stated per 100g on the labels here to.
I usally get double cream, says 1.6 carbs per 100g

(Omar) #14

mine tastes sweet. but the label says 2 grams of carbs per 100 grams of HWC

It is OK because it is my priority fat source and because my other carbs intake is almost blanko
