Just joined this forum today.
I started about 2.5 weeks ago.
I wasn’t planning to diet, but a neighbor of mine was having a rough time and needed some accountability.
My rolly pollie belly has gotten a bit out of control so I offered to lose a few too.
Back in 2007 I did Atkins and l lost 77 pounds in 5 months, so I have some experience as far as knowing what to expect to have to do. I realize there are some different things with keto so decided to mix it up. I also just hit the over 50 club and someone said it’s better I drop weight now before the menopause hits.
A week or so ago I started watching a few YouTube videos about sugar, and have been vigilant ever since about checking labels on everything I come across. Didn’t realize how much hidden sugars were in virtually everything! I’m not a regular sweets eater but that video was amazingly eye opening to how much sugar I was still getting.
Then started researching about seed oils, that too has put some restrictions on what I’m eating.
Anyway, down over 7lbs already and would love to keep the 2lbs a week going.
I ate only meat and cheese the first 10 days just to kick into ketosis quickly and get past the sugar headaches.
My neighbor has lost about 6 lbs. She’s feeling more motivated now. I had to go through her fridge and pretty much toss everything
She’s got diabetes and had high salt issues. She doesn’t own a salt shaker even, but I pointed out her zero Coke and proceed foods all had plenty. She doesn’t really want to cook. She’s one of those people who wants to reach in the fridge and just eat.
I on the other hand love to cook and I’m a complete foodie.
Spoiled myself with eggs florentine with a cheese sauce for brunch - over roasted portobello mushrooms.
Anyway, looking forward to swapping recipe ideas and learning new things!
Excited to maybe have some Goodwill clothes to drop off before end of summer.
Oh, my only kryptonite right now is the free sample stuff in the grocery store. I’m a personal shopper for groceries and am in the grocery store up to 8 times a day.
