Hello Keto flu

#1

You suck. Just kidding

But dang, I feel like I was hit by a train. Head started pounding at around 3am hasn’t stopped, feel drained, want my bed, and a little dizzy.

My wife said Keto flu, suck it up. Today I feel like I chose the wrong career.

Search for ketoaid (am on phone so can’t link it) or just have some salt, it helps a lot.

1/2 tsp of salt on a plate, lick your finger and eat it over the next 10-15 minutes washed down with a pint of water with 1/4 tsp cream of tartar (potassium) and a magnesium tablet if you have one.

If you don’t have the cream of tartar and magnesium, just the salt and the pint of water will have you feeling better.

Trying the salt now

Carb withdrawal symptoms? Lack of sodium and water. Easily fixed.

It’s well worth it. Keep going.

#6

So took some sodium in and another bottle of water. I feel about 50% better.

Thanks

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

Keto “flu” is a symptom of lack of sodium. The body naturally excretes sodium and water faster in the absence of carbohydrate, so anyone cutting back on carbs needs more salt and water to keep up.

According to a few recent studies, the U.S. dietary guideline for sodium intake is dangerously unhealthy. Even people with high blood pressure do best on 4-6 g/day, which translates to 10-15 g of table salt (NaCl). Here is a video of Andrew Mente discussing the results of the PURE study:

Add more/less ingredients as you see fit…trial and error for taste:

• 4-6 cups water
• The juice of one medium lemon
• ½ tsp potassium chloride or lite salt
• 1/2 tsp pink Himalayan Salt
• 4 tsp Natural Calm magnesium supplement
• Sweetener to taste
• Optional: 2 squeezes of Water Enhancer ( Fruit Flavored, Naturally sweetened with Stevia)
Micronutrient details: Potassium 1348 mg, Sodium 820 mg, Magnesium 650mg,

Or just get some bouillon, No Salt, or a simple all in one like this if you are in a bind and need something quick that will hold you over:

Well woke up and just feel tired today. Urine stick is now dark purple.

I just drank a lot of chicken broth (made from powdered chicken granules, in the baking section). That did it for me. I have never made ketoaid but I don’t like fruity tastes so I didn’t think I’d like it.

I hope you feel better soon. And even after you’re into your journey, you will still have to mind your electrolytes so start good habits now.

While you have keto flu you should put 2 tsps of salt in a bowl and make sure you have it all throughout the day along with plenty of water. It helps hugely.

Electrolytes all the way… pink salt under the tongue works too!
