Hi all, posting in Newbies because I’m new to the forum and it wasn’t obvious where else to say hello, but I’m not new to LCHF/keto. I’ve been listening to the podcasts for a while now, and lurking on the forum for a few weeks. I’m 57 and have had a long history of weight and metabolic issues, which culminated with being told by my doctor in May 2016 that my long standing pre-diabetic fasting glucose levels had now progressed to diabetic levels. He scheduled me in for a full suite of blood tests in a few months’ time to confirm the diagnosis and decide what medications I needed to be on. In the meantime he told me the only thing I could do was loose more weight (which I’d already been doing). Shortly thereafter I chanced upon Jason Fung’s Obesity Code in a book shop and restructured my diet and lifestyle the same day. Needless to say the diabetic medications never happened; a recent A1C was 5.6%, and all other metabolic markers are the best they’ve ever been since I’ve been keeping records. Lost a lot of weight but still plenty to go, but perhaps loosing more is now just cosmetics. Look forward to contributing to the forum.
Cheers, Peter
Hello from a new member
Welcome! Everyone here is super friendly and so helpful! Probably the best forum on the internet.
Glad you’re here!
Fantastic results! Congratulations on your health improvements, and welcome to the forum! Everyone I’ve ever encountered here has been super knowledgeable and supportive… it’s like a second family in a way… only everyone understands your diet!

Hello and welcome! Glad you found this way of living/eating/being healthier. Keep up the good work.
Good job!!! It’s always interesting to hear how people get introduced to this lifestyle/woe. I’m sure your knowledge acquired through your journey will be an asset to the community.
Hi Peter, and welcome.
Quite similar to you - I’m 58, and same deal, metabolic syndrome finally progressed to diabetes; read what Jason Fung had to say and found this forum. Fasting and ketogenic eating may not be perfect for everybody, but it’s been great for me, and for many of us who are insulin-resistant.
Welcome and have another piece of bacon.
By the way, in my opinion, T2D drugs are a very slippery slope into a very dark and scary abyss. Fasting and lchf eating don’t carry the dangerous side effects with them. Just a surprised expression on your doc’s face.
