I was diagnosed Hashimotos 12 years ago. I can definitely say to never ever stop taking your medication. It replaces something that your body should be producing naturally, and given the 3-6 month effect period of medication transitions, you risk making yourself feel worse in the long run. If you have Hashimotos and your thyroid hormones aren’t balanced, you risk the development of more nodules and eventual risk of surgery. I also had the mindset 8 years ago to “get off my medications” before I knew the risks. My thyroid nodules and goiter slowly calcifiedand developed precancerous cells. I didn’t know until after I had my daughter, and I had to have emergency surgery to remove the calcified portions (looking back, I wish they had taken the whole thing out!).
After your body goes through the imbalance of hormones, you are exposed to developing a series of autoimmune issues. I developed PCOS.
Just remember- fasting is an amazing thing! However, you’ll be doing your body a service by keeping the consistent hormones. They arent food, so you won’t be ruining your fast by taking them. Bodies without thyroid disease naturally produce those hormones without medication.
Hope this helps
