Happy first week

(Scott) #1

My first week is up and down 13.6 lbs. thanks for all the early help. It’s funny how the weight comes of in terms of the different days and I know it’s early and will be slower after this .i think my morning numbers are ok and getting better after one week. My ketones whenever I wake up is .8 and glucose is 104 was 116 a couple days ago One thing I never new was that spices had so many carbs . If I’m just cooking a chicken breast , I have to be very conscious of it

Spices, being plant foods, are made of carbohydrate. But fortunately, the quantity of them we use is generally too small to be of concern. But the carb count can mount up, under the right (wrong?) circumstances.

Trying to keep track of everything . When I cook a chicken breast I usually ad garlic powder thyme cinnamon salt pepper and sometimes paprica. Will take suggestions . Never measured just added but not a lot except the garlic it’s a little more that the others

Spices are dried plants, of course they are very carby… I have a dish where I use tablespoonfuls of paprika (I am a true Hungarian :D) and other spices, well, that’s significant. But it’s not for one person and I never use nearly that much when I make my normal dishes so it’s fine. But I track it as it’s not negligible.
Garlic is very carby even when fresh and contains much water… Fortunately I found the higher-carb plants I like to use are the most flavorful ones so a little goes a long way. Be it spice or onions, carrots…
Be careful with condiments. Mustard and sauces often has even some added sugar, I like to use a tomato/pepper sauce sometimes, fortunately it’s the same as usual: I only need a little. I use mustard more generously now and then but mine has no added sugar, it’s not much carbs at all.

Congrats for the losses! Hopefully you have or will have other benefits as well

I use no carb mustang . And yes saw a list of carbs in spices and was very shocked

Now I know why people say scales can drive them crazy. Weighed myself this am and was up 2.5 lbs . Looked the rhe food diary and was below all my macros. Guessing there was a misread yesterday . Still happy with how it’s going just a little disappointed . But welcome to life and keto

Fat loss is never linear, and body composition changes all the time, which affects the scale, as well. As long as your metabolism is healing, and the overall trend is in the right direction, you are fine.
