Halloumi fries in Aldi?!

I’ve never seen them but will look now…

That is hilarious. People will be driving round to different stores and going into their local one repeatedly in various disguises just to get their fix

I would make my own…

9.5 carbs per 100g compared to 2g of regular haloumi…

Just looked at the packaging online and there is nothing in them other than the cheese - so they are simply cut up cheese! There is often a variance in stats between different brands of cheese of course but I certainly wouldn’t rely on MFP for my info! having said that, the MFP info is closer to the packaging which is 1.2% carbs.

Maybe I am mistaken, but the link you posted is the cheese itself, not the fries…
The fries seem to be breaded…
Somewhere in the ‘what did you keto today’ thread someone made them by just cutting the cheese and frying it in some lard or so…
Doesn’t seem like too much of a hassle and is probably cheaper too…

Here is a link to the fries. No nutritional Infos though…

This is what I do, well fry in butter, but sometimes I want to be lazy…

If anyone has purchased these and wouldn’t mind posting a picture of the ingredients, I’d love to see that…
Google is not coming up with anything decent and I have a very curious nature

Makes me suspicious as they don’t put the ingredients on their own website…

exactly what I thought

I’ll try to hunt them down at the weekend…

#11

Ha! Yes you are right. I googled the fries and ended up there but didn’t look properly! I guess it would make sense that they would put some kind of coating on - shame. Probably is yucky stuff.

Sold out :joy:

FINALLY found these yesterday and I think I’ll pass…

I make my own.
Normal Halloumi cut into chips shapes, or cubes. Sometimes I dust them with a bit of paprika.
Then fry in hot butter.
Then trick is to get the butter hot first, then add the halloumi and then leave them for a bit. The moisture that comes out needs to boil off and then they will get crispy. Then turn them to crisp up the other sides - done!

I’ve been doing this for a while too. Halloumi fried in butter is the best.

I wish I could find Halloumi Cheese at an affordable price here in the heart of America. I can find it…but $$$!

It is sort of a boutique-y cheese here, I reckon.

Famer’s cheese, queso blanco, and frying cheese should all work if you can find them. I have a block of frying cheese in my fridge and am going to see how it compares sometime this week. I find halloumi a tad too salty for my tastes and am hoping to find something more bland.
