(lynwood) #1

I have been keto for 3 months and my hair is thinning so badly. Not talking few, lots.

Welcome to our forums. For us to help you, we need to know what you mean by keto. Tell us everything you ate yesterday. There’s much misinformation on the internet about ā€œketo,ā€ so it will help us help you.

Mine thinned and it’s getting thicker again. Don’t panic, keto can trigger a mass hair replacement cycle and it will grow back. Hair falling out is due to a new hair sprouting from the follicle pushing an old one out. :cowboy_hat_face:

Mine shed a bunch for a couple months too. It’s quite common when your body has a shock like a major diet change. It’ll grow back nice and thick, but it takes time.

I have really thick curly hair and I before keto my hair was falling out by the handful due to stress and bad nutrition so when I started keto I didn’t notice any extraneous hairloss… I would panic everytime I took a shower. I would also make light of the situation by telling my husband there was a dead cat in the shower. :joy::joy: I started putting marine collagen powder in my morning coffee because I hate fish and I wanted the benefits of eating fish.

What does a typical day of eating look like to you?

Yes, any significant dietary change can cause some initial hair loss.

Also not eating enough protein can cause hair loss as well as thyroid issues.

Who are you asking?

Sorry. That was being asked of @lynwood.
