Guilt for breaking fast

I must not have eaten enough fat yesterday afternoon with my usual “break fast” meal. This morning I was pretty hungry. Had to grab breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon). I also have to take an antibiotic for a medical procedure tomorrow. I guess going off my IF is okay for a few days. But I feel so guilty about it. I usually do a 20/4 daily fast.

I don’t think anyone should ever feel guilty for breaking a fast, no matter what the reason. It takes a little practice, and each time you do it it’s a learning experience. Megan Ramos talks about fasting being a muscle, and you exercise it, and get better over time. Let it go and try again when you’re ready.

Interestingly enough, I did almost the same thing last week and lost over 5 pounds literally overnight (whoosh). Water weight or not, I’ve managed to keep it off to this point.

After I’d finished a few fasts, I noticed that it’s usually the mental part of it that causes me to break. Once you get used to riding the hunger waves that come early in the fast (over the course of a few fasts), you may find the physical sensation of hunger is easier to override than the mental desire to eat. Everyone’s different, of course.

That’s great about the weight loss!
