Ground beef

(Mel) #1

What is your favorite ground beef recipe besides yummy burgers? We were cleaning the fridge/freezer out last night and I realized we have a ton of frozen ground beef so i plan to be cooking that for all of our upcoming meals! I love burgers and plan to make them a few nights, they are always a crowd pleaser at home but wondering if anyone has any other go to recipes for ground beef? Thanks!!

Chilli, keema, kebabs. All tasty.

I often make bowls which consist of Ground Beef, shredded cheese, guacamole, and sometimes mushrooms. You could definitely make a mexican style bowl if you add some sliced bell peppers and onions.

You could also just stuff some bell peppers with the gorund beef and top with cheese and mushrooms as well

I love ground beef. Just a couple favorites that are family-friendly (at least with my family!)

  • Meatballs with mozzarella in the center.
  • Skillet “stuffed pepper” meal (burger, peppers, bit of onion, & Rao’s marinara - served alone or with cauli rice)
  • Beef stroganoff (one-skillet meal with burger, mushrooms, sour cream)
  • Crack slaw (stir-fry burger and cabbage, etc.)
and only occasionally since still a bit higher carb for me than normal …
  • Spaghetti (use Rao’s sauce), with spaghetti squash (or lower carb if I eat with riced cauliflower or zucchini noodles)

These all sound so good thanks for the ideas!

The other night I made a meatloaf with moz. cheese in the middle. Did it in the smoker and it came out great.

Last time I did burgers I figured I would change things up a little bit and see how they’d be on the smoker. They were fee-nom-I-nal. Takes longer than throwing them on the grill, but definitely worth it. I may not do them on the grill ever again.

Fry in a pan (in some Kerrygold). Add cayenne pepper (powder) to taste and once browned completely, remove from heat and add 2 ounces of cream cheese. Cover for 5 minutes and then stir it all together. Turns into a pepper cream sauce. Good as is but also good topped with some sharp cheese and/or avocado slices.

I love this taco casserole. It’s easy to make and the top with eggs and cheese turns out really good.

At one time I would make a dish that was just ground beef, spinach and eggs, with some seasoning of whatever (usually mostly salt or season salt and probably garlic). I may have done this with some leftover bacon grease but I don’t recall at the moment.

-Taco salad (just no tortilla chips)
-Meatloaf with mushrooms and mushroom sauce
-Homemade spaghetti on zucchini noodles
These are my faves. The meatloaf and spaghetti can add up in carbs so I just make sure to be reasonable with my serving size and allow for leftovers.

I do the same thing except I use ground turkey because it seems to taste better. In general, I like beef much better than turkey/chicken but this just works. I buy the ground turkey from Sam’s Club because it is really cheap. I think each package is 2 pounds and it comes two to a package. BTW, this also works with ground beef but you have to drain the fat.

I’ll cook the ground turkey (2 lb container) and season it to taste with garlic salt, pepper, maybe some Lawry’s and onion powder. From there, I’ll add in a can (7 3/4 oz) of El Pato hot tomato sauce (yellow label) and one can of Contadina tomato sauce the same size. I’ll then simmer that mixture for 15 minutes or so to get rid of some of the moisture. It is really simple and easy.

This was my friend’s recipe to make tostadas back in the day originally using ground beef. Now we just do away with the tortilla and make a taco salad out of that mixture. We just fill a bowl with chopped romaine lettuce. It tastes great when you top the lettuce with the ground beef/turkey mixture, some guacamole, grated cheddar cheese, hot sauce, salsa, pico de gallo, etc.

I actually prefer it that way! It’s really a winner when we have parties. People can make their traditional tostadas or for those of us on keto, we can just make a taco salad.

Dirty “rice” is a crowd pleaser in our house. My family gets rice and I get cabbage. I cook the meat and veggies, split the recipe in half, add cabbage to mine and add rice to the other. https://spicysouthernkitchen.com/dirty-rice/

Meatza
Just ground beef and egg with some spice if you want. Mix press into pizza base. Bake on oven for 15 mins or so. Take out cover with cheddar mozzarella chopped cooked bacon (toppings of choice) return to oven few mins to melt cheese et voila!

I used to be a big fan of taco salads with Doritos, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa, cheese, jalapenos and black olives. Instead of Doritos, I now use pork rinds as the base.
