But I thought corn was not allowed on keto :smirk_cat:

How do I insert massive sarcastic taking the mick emoji?

I thoroughly enjoyed my grits this morning. It’s @idrankwhat fault. He was looking for a grits recipe in his FB group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/centralandwesternvaketoans/
. so I invented one cuz he made me so damn hungry for them!
Simultaneously found that @Fiorella had posted a shrimp and grits recipe.
Shrimp and grits
That Fiorella. Always thinking. @Fiorella, have you made POLENTA yet!!!

@richard has the polenta recipe here:
http://easylocarb.azurewebsites.net/recipe/polenta/

Another alternative is to use the grits in the “shrimp and grits” recipe, but add parmigiano reggiano cheese instead, to give it more of an Italian taste

Yes. Me want to use baby corn.

The can of baby corn I bought had 1 net carb per serving, for a total of 2.5 carbs for the whole can. I thought I did good. :open_mouth: I’m going to look in other grocery stores next time! I bought it to make Fiorella’s corn chips recipe. Now I need another for this! lol

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #8

WTF are you talking about??!!

THAT IS GOOD

#9

Yours be 0 net carbs. I like that better! lol

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #10

Never totally trust a label. I think they are lying. I count 2 net per half cup.

#11

Nah…Brenda is right…1.5 g is good. That’s why I show the label on my recipes…to get people to look at their labels, too. There are some companies that add stuff to the liquid the baby corn is stored in (like sugar syrup). So, you want to make sure you don’t buy that stuff.

Do a quick search with me online @Kyz. Meet me back here in a few minutes and tell me what you find for baby corn nutrition.

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #13

Here’s one. They list .4 net grams carbohydrate per ounce.

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #14

And here they list 1/2 cup as 2 net grams carbohydrate, which is what I follow.

#15

So I found it all over the place. Some low, some higher…

#16

I totally see what you’re saying. Thanks for the info! (and lesson)

(8 year Ketogenic Veteran) #17

Sometimes you have to take all the info and make a decision you’re comfortable with.

If it is critically important to me, I use THIS database:
