Green tea decrease carb absorption by 25%

#1

I read this article from Examine website,it says green tea blocks almost all digestion enzymes, fat absorption is affected only weakly but carbs are absorbed 25% less!

I think this is rat study with purified catechins, cant estimate how does this translate to human having cup od tea.

On one hand,it sounds bad, blocking so many enzymes must hurt digestion, some people need to take enzymes supplements.

On other hand, fat is almost unaffected while carbs are heavily blocked, this sounds great for keto,I just hope it wont cause shartmaggedon and gasocalypse, neither the fermentation by bacteria,or intestine tsunami caused by osmotic reaction is pleasant, what you think?

I’m not sure how sound his science is, but Adam Nally advises against leaf-based teas, including green tea, because the tannins raise insulin levels. I’ve switched my tea intake to mostly herbal, but I drink Hi-Caff brand tea about a third of the time for the caffeine, since it more than likely the caffeine helps insulin sensitivity.

While I do intend to investigate the claims based on their own merit and not the merit of the person making the claim, it appears from his references to his various practices that Dr. Nally may have a religious proscription against caffeine, so I have accepted his claim as provisionally true, but potentially from a biased source.

Everything I’ve ever seen about green tea is that the impact is negligible at plausible levels of consumption in humans. Not that I’ve wasted much time on it.

Who’d want to risk…

:joy::joy:

Whenever a food is shown to be “super,” an extract of it will evolve.

I do take a green tea extract. I forgot why. Probably colon cancer, but maybe it lose weight.

Dr Fung discusses it here

If anyone is interested in green tea, matcha is the way to go. Because of process, it is the highest in everything. And you don’t even need to make a beverage out of it.

Please elaborate.
How are you using it?
It reminds me of the spirulina powder I use every day but I do make that into a beverage

I’m not using it.

It’s a more concentrated form of the plant, so whatever you’re looking for, ECGC, or whatever, matcha is number one.

Interesting article about other uses for matcha. Since I make egg cups all the time, I may start adding some matcha to the herbs I use. Thanks.
