Im 3 days in and tonight i woke out my sleep sweating and heart racing… I’ve never heard anything happen like that and im a 33 year old female with no medical issues
I want to say my body is experiencing heavy withdrawal from the sugar because i’m used to eating junk foods all day away work. I don’t want to quit, but i got scared, has anyone ever had this happen? Im sitting up now i drank some water and had a pickle for salt…
Great racing 3 days into keto
I didn’t experience the racing heart personally, but I’ve read enough others describing it to know it’s not uncommon and that they were told it’s an electrolytes issue.
I can say from experience that once I entered ketosis (only took a couple of days) I peed a lot and flushed a load of electrolytes.
I also experienced some sleeplessness as energy levels soared… and my heart rate did change quite a bit…mine dropped after a month and has stayed lower for the last 4months. My rest HR went from 72 bpm to around 60 bpm.
This may be due to the fact that my magnesium, sodium and potassium are probably better now due to diet and supplements.
Happened to me in a big way. Heart racing and in general, just being much more aware of my own heart beating.
I took advice from this forum somewhere, and upped my electrolytes. It went away within a few days.
I started drinking ketoaide first thing in the morning -
2 tblsp of apple cider vinegar (I don’t actually measure it, just poor a glug in)
1 tspn of sea salt
1/2 tspn of cream of tartar. I probably go well over with this. You should take care NOT to overdose on COT, it can be dangerous.
Mix well with a large glass of water, and through it down.
Many people make ketoaide differently, and consume it differently. Find what best suits you. However you make it, I would always add the above ingredients as a minimum.

I second the electrolytes! I definitely felt more aware of my heart. It almost felt like an anxiety attack. Hopefully it’ll get better.
