Great article by Taubes

This is from 2007 but it does a great job explaining why diet is more important to weight loss than exercise, and in fact exercise tends to cause weight gain.

Thanks for this, Bart, Taubes is a fantastic writer. I especially enjoyed the dig at the French.

Yes, great article. I may have read it at the time I first discovered Gary Taubes (in 2007, or early 2008). One thing I would slightly disagree with, or qualify:

He writes that exercise always makes us hungry. That is probably true on a SAD, but not on low-carb, VLC, or keto - at least in my experience.

As I try not to eat nowadays until at least mid-day, and often quite a bit later, I will very often make a point of exercising for at least 30min-1hour or more in the morning, and before eating.
(For me nowadays, it’s usually Nordic Walking).

It doesn’t seem to make me hungrier - quite the opposite usually. And when I do eat, I don’t think I over-eat to compensate.
