There are several acquaintances of mine who are T2D. I asked one of them how she manages her diabetes. She looked at me and said she doesn’t. WOW. I told her I manage mine through diet hoping she would ask. No she didnt. I want to tell all my T2D friends I found the way. I haven’t so I will wait until the weight comes off and they ask me. I do tell them that I plan on getting rid of my diabetes. Maybe they will ask me how. Last A1C 5.8 . Time for new blood work this month. So we shall see. KCKo
Got called a Keto Snob today
That sucks that you were ganged up on like that. Nothing about that story makes it sound to me like you were being a snob of any sort. People always project their own insecurities on others.
When people ask me how I’ve managed to lose so much weight, I just tell them I’ve given up starch and sugar. I find that if they are just asking out of politeness, that answer satisfies them and they move on. Those who are more curious will normally ask other questions like “Well what do you eat then?”; to which I answer with a big smile: “Ass-loads of bacon and butter!”. From there they usually break into two groups:
Group A will say something like “Oh my God! You’re going to die!!”; to which I respond by thanking them for their concern, and offering to provide them all the scientific evidence they need to put their minds at ease about my eminent demise. If they say yes, great! I send them links to articles, study’s, videos, podcasts, etc. If they say no, I simply say “I understand. Let me know if you change your mind, but in the meantime, you can’t tell me you KNOW I’m going to die.”
Group B will respond to the ass-loads of bacon and butter answer with genuine curiosity and begin to ask lots of follow-up questions. I give the the same links as group A, but I also talk to them about this WOE in as much depth as they like, especially highlighting how I’ve completely reversed DM2, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. It’s always their choice though.
If someone tells me they are trying another “diet”, no matter what it is, I always tell them “Good for you! I wish you the best of success with that!” And I mean it - even if I know they are all but doomed to failure. In the 5 months I’ve been doing this, I’ve had about 6 or 8 people come back to me a few days after our initial conversation, and tell me they decided to give Keto a try.
There’s a big difference between keto and religion/faith. You can see the results and there is science to back up the results.
You are too funny!! I totally agree and was that way in the beginning after all the positive things happened to me. Most people should know by now that sugar and carbs are bad for you – it’s kinda like smoking cigarettes! How do people not get this??
Paleo is more popularized but KETO is up and coming
Spread the word!
