Going on vacation.. how do is stop Keto?

#1

So my one month is over. I’ve lost quiet some inches, but my goal was one month. I didn’t think i would come to love this so i plan on resuming when i get back from vacation which is next Sunday, going to Vegas for 3 days 2 nights. . ANYWAY my question is how do i comfortably exit Keto without feeling like poop the moment i have more than 25carbs. It’s Vegas so I’ll also be drinking and i don’t want to become a lightweight! Is there a way to go about this ? Or should i just go into the high carb days fresh outta ketogenic diet.?

The answer your going to get from almost everyone on here, is why are you going off KETO. You can still have a good time and eat the ketogenic way!!!

To be honest, I’d suggest trying to stay at least low carb, stick to gon/vodka for drinks and don’t have chips (fries), but whatever you do, enjoy your holiday.

That’s why i clarified in the beginning that my goal was one month. And i had another post asking people if my reason for Keto diet was vain, because I was just trying to lose some pounds before vacation. This was my first time doing Keto and i still miss the carbs and all the food stuff I’ve left behind for a whole month. So on my hard earned PTO vacation id like to have more than 20g of carbs and not worry about counting every single ingridient. I’m sorry I’m not that advanced yet… emphsis on my goal was one month thank you though!

your goal, your body, you vacation. Do what you like with it. When you come crawling back feeling like poop, we’ll tell you how to get traction again. We’re not in the business of telling people how to not be Keto. It is the Ketogenic Forum after all, not the Non Ketogenic Forum.

Enjoy your trip.

Hi Gatahavit,

It is your body, your diet, your life, you choice, your vacation. A love of liberty compels me to respect every person’s fundamental right to make such decisions for themselves, but not necessarily the decision itself.

I have a difficult time comprehending why anyone would intentionally choose to be healthy only on a schedule.

Conscience precludes me from helping people harm themselves even if this might engender some hostility
toward myself. What you choose to eat in Vegas will not stay in Vegas. I have never consumed any science that indicates the health impact of the foods we eat are associated, correlated, with vacation or location. That might be a “bridge too far” for even Dr. Ansel Benjamin Keys.

Keto for Life!

Richard

Hey - have a great vacation. if you were trying Keto for a month, and that’s over, then go hog wild in Vegas!!! Why not? If that’s what you decide to do, then go all in!! I would say that you may feel like poop for a day or two. My thought is to continue with the drinking throughout the vacation, and that way you can blame a constant hangover!!

Just a warning, you WILL be a light weight so take it easy. Alcohol knocks many keto-ers under the table after only one or two drinks, and I personally end up with a gnarly hangover (so bad after being out and about with my future in laws that j had to skip brunch the next day, embarrassing)

(jilliangordona) #9

Also, eat what you want while in vegas! When I go on trips, I often will try and eat keto or fast in he morning and then eat what I want for dinner just to balance. But it’s your vacay and you shouldn’t feel guilty for doing what you want!

So much condescending aggression from people claiming not to “care” thank you for nothing

#11

Thank you for not guilting me. I appreciate it.

#12

I love this! That was my initial plan. Thank you!

#13

Lol shut up. It’s not that serious. Goodbye

#14

“Crawling back” looooool. Again, it’s not that serious. Relax

#15

as far as choosing to be healthy on a “schedule” I had a different goal and i clarified that more than twice, even made a whole post about it. And people were understanding and nice, and now i feel attacked by “ketoers for life” people. Pretty confused by how fast y’all switch up on me.

Please consider that fact that this forum IS for keto for life people, those who want a lifer take change not quick weight loss. Regardless of how it might come off, everyone is this forum wants the best for their keto comrades, which means discouraging “cheating.”

Many need keto to reverse life threatening illnesses, not just got weight loss. I appreciate you were upfront about your motives, but keep others motives in mind

Well first off you do not need to stop keto…that being said, I have been keto since the early 1990’s and did just that. The absolute best way to do this and not experience bloat/water/weight gain etc is to ease into adding carbs back in. Infact if you do a quasi-PSMF (PSMF is high protein and LOW fat and carbs…25gms or less of each)…. with low carbs/low-ish fat and moderate to high protein you may find you not only do not “rebound” but may drop a few pounds as well during the transition. I helped tons of people do this. Can add about 20-40 carb every other day as well. Or if you jump right into higher carb as you end keto then keep fat low the 1st few days.

troll. Do not feed the troll.

(Richard Hanson) #19

I thought you said shut up … Goodbye?

You might not understand this, but it is not all just about you. As I clearly stated, you get to make your own decisions, but no one has an obligation to validate those decisions and I certainly do not want to encourage other people to make a similar choice by supporting your decision. Instead, it was my intent to encourage people to think, to consider consequences, to make a life affirming decision to improve their diet for the long run.

Please, don’t conflate a decision not the validate your desire to stop eating keto as a personal attack. You are not a victim, you are an adult making your own choices.

Most Respectfully,
Richard

Oh ookay I did not know this forum was JUST for keto lifers as it did not say that when i signed up. I was merely looking for some experienced advice and i got that and it helped very much. And I’m taking a lot of good things with me. Thank you all.
