Enjoy your vacation!

Enjoy your vacation. Those few days will not matter one little bit, since they’re an abberation. It’s the long-term hormonal secretion pattern that counts. Three days, no matter how much you eat, will not cause a significant rise in detrimental hormonal resistance states. At most, you’ll recompensate glycogen, which can be a good thing on a periodic basis.

Just watch the booze, you’ll be a very cheap drunk. Drink at least one glass of water with every one or two alcoholic drinks.

I say “Live and learn”. Eating carbs may not give you any discomfort at all. If not, BONUS!
You can jump back on to the Keto wagon and may have lost a little ground, but you are in a marathon, not a sprint. There is no penalty for time off from the diet, just a delay in reaching your goal.

On the other hand, you may feel terrible as your body re-adjusts to carbs. You might also have to go through “Keto Flu” all over again when you re-start the diet. In that case, you’ll have learned an equally valuable lesson - Just not worth it to change your way of eating once you are in it.

For myself, I just find it easier to make good choices at restaurants and keep the carbs as low as possible.

Which ever choice you make, you’ll come out of it a little wiser and better prepared to make good decisions in the future.

A couple of thoughts, as I assume you are probably still hanging around reading and possibly fuming a bit. I too started with a set goal—2 months of consistent LCHF. For me at the time, 60 days seemed sufficient to give it a solid “go” before I stopped, evaluated, and either continued or stopped. It’s been 17 months now, and as you can guess, I decided it was a worthy permanent change for me. In retrospect, I see now that 60 days is a short, short, short amount of time—a drop in the bucket to be honest. I kind of laugh at myself when I think about how I tried for sixty whole days.

To be fair, your original post did indeed state your intentions. You were not asking for feedback on your choice as much as advice on how to do it well. I can empathize with those who don’t want to assist in what they feel is a poor choice (I grok that). I can also empathize with you because after only 30 days, going to a place like Vegas and sticking to keto seems overwhelming and frankly “un-fun.”

That said, I’m going to make a few suggestions. If you were my low-carb friend in real life, this is what I’d advise you:

Consider staying on plan for the most part. Choose protein, fats, low carb veggies, and dairy and forego sugary desserts and sugary mixed drinks. Increase your calories to allow you to try some foods you might wish as it’s a one-time trip. If you must go higher than 25 g of carbs per day, set a reasonable limit for yourself that you can easily come back from: perhaps 35 g per day as your top end. If you must drink, stick with one drink per day and look forward to it. In other words, keep it real. Don’t blow it totally out of the water.

Good luck.
