Goal Events

Picking a goal event or two or three for swimming can help keep us motivated & focused in our training as well as helping to measure progress.

Do you use goal events as part of your training?
Open water?
Masters swim meets?
Postal Swims?
Other?

Here’s my current favorite: Point to LaPonte our in Lake Superior!

I haven’t had much experience in open water. But I hope too. Here is a couple I would like to do with a team one day.

Simply because its fairly local: https://transtahoerelay.com/

And this one because…hawaii…nuff said! http://www.mauichannelswim.com/index.asp

But currently my goal is to get in shape enough to swim a 100 fly again. And eventually a decently times 100 fly. Maybe even get in shape enough to sign up for masters swim meets. I miss swim meets haha!

I think Dr. Attia used to do the Maui Channel Swim back prior to his Keto Adaptation.

Swim to the Moon is also on my short list of swims I’d like to try. Friends have told me good things…

My first goal is to swim one of the USMS ePostal events, just need to lasso someone into logging my times/yards. I want to swim in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge meet next June and also there’s a women’s triathalon in July. My biggest goals so far. So in addition to getting faster with my freestyle, I need to improve my breaststroke, backstroke and learn to do the fly. I want to get back onto a bike this winter and start running in the spring. Ambitious, but I think about this while I’m slogging out laps.

Postals are a great way to gauge progress over the winter months.

I was tossing around the idea that we could have a Keto Postal for this forum at some point if we got enough interest.
Could even have a “fully fasted” category (fast for 24 hours prior to swim) for giggles.
