Go Halle Berry

Reasonable article, still a bit focussed on CICO, and the usual stupid warning that it’s hard to keep on a keto diet. Utter bollox. Easiest diet in the world to stick to (apart from the seefood diet… you know the one😂).

I would advise Halle (Halle, I know you are on the forums quietly, so listen up!) that she ain’t eating enough, and she needs to eat less veg and more fat.

Great article for community education!!! I didn’t find it focused on CICO - just the reasonable quick facts of the matter.

Ms. Berry is a 51 year old woman who has been managing her diabetes for YEARS on keto, and is obviously not in need of advice - sheesh! She’s a master teacher of keto just by example and her health status. Go Ms. Berrrrrrrry!

“You can eat all the food you want,” she says. “You can eat a big-ass porterhouse steak if you want. You just can’t have the baked potato.” Love her!!!

Here’s to all the 50+ women out here rockin’ the LCHF self-care, and big-ass steaks on occasion

You missed the paragraph immediately after that quote:

“(Worth noting: As experts have told WomensHealthMag.com in the past, calories are still calories when you’re doing keto—most people just tend to feel fuller faster since they’re loading up on fats and protein, so naturally tend to eat fewer cals.)”

Classic CICO thinking. Halle’s quotes are great, Women’s Health addendums to them not so.

Nope - I’d read it - not classic CICO thinking in the context - just nuanced.

Many midlife LCHF folks doing IF and OMAD/TMAD do indeed end up eating fewer cals, though we’re not counting them. There comes a point in 100% fat adaptation and hormonal healing where satiety aids fasting and the body’s ability to access its own fat stores to burn thereby. Plenty of discussion here in the forum on these nuances if you use the search bar.
