Giant Bacon Bits

Okay, now that I have your attention.

I just found something awesome in the meat department of my grocery store: Bacon Ends and Pieces. Sometimes they package up the leftover chunks from the slicing process and sell them for less than regular bacon or even pork jowls, I found them in the cooler next to packaged hams and other cured meats.

These have more fat on them than the usual stuff so they’re fantastic for cooking. I’m baking chicken with some right now. The aroma is so good, it should be illegal.

Trader Joe’s has these as uncured bacon ends for 3.99 lb…they were wonderful!

You’re late to the party but as they say…better late than never.

I buy bacon ends whenever I can. Have find them as low as 1.19/lb in 10 lb boxes.

Excellent. They were $2.75/pound at my grocery, so I recommend keeping on the alert for deals.

I don’t have a large freezer, so that doesn’t really help me. But enjoy your party.

thanks for reminding me about this. There is a small family grocery store where we used to live that sells ends like this. I’ll be over there tomorrow and be sure to wipe them out.

Has anyone seen these in Australia? I haven’t come across them, but I’m definitely interested.

No, but maybe you could ask the butcher at Marriott Waters if they have any off cuts.
