Getting In To It

(Daun) #1

Hi Everyone.
My name is Daun. I’ve struggled with my weight most of my life. After my second child was born, I dropped 115lbs (while nursing) and was able to keep it off for 12 years. When my oldest son passed away Nov 2015, my weight shot up over 2016 by 50lbs. So, I’m back at it.

I started eating clean about 10 days ago. But just dropped my carbs to >16net last Thursday. I’m really hoping this works as I’ve tried just about everything I know to get the weight I gained through the first part of grieving off. Interestingly, I found that one’s body is naturally keto while lactating (what helped the first time) so I hope it will work.

I’ve definitely felt it since I dropped my carbs about 6 days ago, yesterday (day 5) I was extremely irritable and today is better but I’m lethargic and my knees are aching.

Anyhoo…just wanted to introduce myself and ask for some “rah, rah’s” I’m not looking forward to feeling this way for a month or so BUT I have learned through loss that surrender to the present makes it tolerable.

Glad to be here.
D

I’m sorry for the loss of your son. No child should pass before their parents.

Welcome here! It’s a great place to learn.

Welcome Daun - and so sorry for your loss. Stick with us and you will find support and encouragement .
I know for myself I have tried all my life to regulate my weight and keto is the first and only time that I felt satisfied, in control and lost weight without being miserable. And there are a ton of other benefits. You’re early into this - so there will be some carb withdrawal, keto flu etc while you adapt - but that is transient and not long lasting.
Ps. Rah! Rah!!

RAH! :ok_woman: :raising_hand_woman: :no_good_woman: :ok_woman: (closest thing to cheerleaders I could find! LOL) Did it help?

When you feel lethargic, get some salt in you. Lick it off your hand, drink it with some lemon or lime, but get some salt. If you don’t feel better in 30 minutes, do it again. You need a lot of salt on this WoE. I stayed way behind for a long time when I started out.

My deepest sympathy at the loss of your son. No parent should have to outlive their child. :handshake: WELCOME to the forum! We are here for you.
