Getting enough nutrients

Zero carb/carnivore has been intriguing me more and more lately. I’m considering giving it a try but I’m concerned I won’t get all the nutrients I need without organ meats. It’s it possible to eat zero carb without organ meats? And if so, what would one need to eat to be nutritionally sufficient?

I’ve been doing it this way for over a year and as far as I can tell there’s no issues. My only problem with bloodwork when I got tested early this year was vitamin D (I live in the North). I ate liver once since changing my diet to carnivore. I also eat a few dozen eggs a week (whole, mostly cooked but some raw).

Best part of carnivore is teaching you that everything else is not need.

But, since we all seem to need to get cute with our diets and try to outsmart nature… Things you can add to broaden the nutrient spectrum
Wild Salmon/Sardines etc for n3 fats
Cage Free organic eggs
Liver (mix it in w/ burger if you don’t like it)
Vitamin D supplements
Hard cheeses
Bone Broths
Redmond Real Salt
Oysters

I’m sure there are other animal based products as well.

Thanks for the list.

I like the idea of mixing the liver into the ground beef. I would imagine not much needs to be added to get an appropriate amount.

I do have another question: I think going carnivore may make my family think I am going off the deep end dietarily. Would I totally negate the benefits of carnivore if a small amount of vegetable is eaten at the evening meal?

It may.

The problem is, we don’t have any studies done on carnivorous humans outside of the Bellevue experiments which concluded that man can thrive on animals-only.

You might delay full adaptation with small amounts of plants - but there’s no data on it.

the benefit of carnivore is not eating plant toxins. The closer you become to carnivore, the less oxalates, glucosinolates, sulforaphanes, glycoalkaloids, phytoestrogens, lectins, phytic acids you consume.

Its a free country, you can eat what you want. No carnivore police are going to arrest you. The closer to carnivore you are, I feel the better your outcome

If you vote for me, that could change…

I think there are people who benefit from a whole gamut of different options.
I am someone who gets bored with the same foods on their plate every day, so I eat a whole variety of meat, fish, eggs, different fats and organ meats.

At the same time, my own health requires some fairly high nutrient content (malabsorption), so I am making a conscious decision to eat keto fat to protein ratios, and including a nice wide range of organ meat.

Been listening to some carni podcasts lately and it is amusing to see the carnivore community just as divided as the rest of the world on whether meat and water should include organ meat.

I guess, after several decades of bouncing around trying to find a way of eating that suited my body, I am no longer willing to accept that what works for some people will work for me. Because it doesn’t. That is what got me here. I aim for optimising my nutrition, and for me, that takes a bit more effort than others need to make.
