Gastro Upset following fast

fasting

Thought i would ask…

Ive been doing lots of fasting and try and rotate as to not stick to same routine. It varies from 16 hrs up to 24 hrs but one thing i am noticing is that… no matter what i break my fast with, i end up with a bloated belly. My belly ends up looking like 30 weeks pregnent. I can hear air trapped in my belly but it doesnt seem to want to come out. Its like im a hot air balloon post fast. Any clue as to why? Or how to prevent it? I basically feel like ive eaten a Thanksgiving dinner even though i just drank chicken tea or ate a romain salad…

I find taking a digestive enzyme when I break fasts to be very helpful, might be something to consider? What other things have you tried? There’s no way my body would accept romain lettuce as a fast breaker but I have no issues with any sorts of meat or eggs.

You can also eat a small fermented pickle or sauerkraut. It has to be active culture. You can also drink the juice. Even just an oz of juice helps. My grocery store has a small section with active culture items. Also greek yogurt is usually active. I stay away from yogurt because I worry it will trigger my desire to eat carbs.

Don’t eat a lot of these fermented foods when breaking a fast. They can cause disaster pants if taken in too large a quantity.

I hope you work it out.

I do this too =) I take two daily normally if eating, but I take one of these before breaking a fast as well =-).
