Garbage mouth

(Tricia Roth) #1

So, the first week or two, my mouth tasted horrible all the time, and cheese made it worse. And now, it is back to normal. At least, it doesn’t bother me. Is this typical or have I just gotten used to it?

I’m sure it doesn’t mean I’ve become fat adapted, but yesterday, I had to miss lunch, and I did get hungry, and then it passed. That never happens with me. I really am enjoying my ability to observe a little hunger without losing my mind and to resist sweets. It does almost seem magical.

We call it keto breath and there’s a decent discussion here

My breath doesn’t actually smell bad, as far as I can tell, but there is definitely a feel to my mouth that tells me I’m in ketosis. If the feeling bothers me, I brush my teeth, especially on waking in the morning. Otherwise, I don’t worry about it.

The first couple of months my breath (and body odor too) was foul.

It went away…
