Hey all. So I’m on day 12 of keto and I was down 12lbs by day 9 then I started gaining weight. I know not to split hairs but I’m curious as to why. I am at or under my 20g of carbs, I’m at my protein and I’m satisfied with my fat. I’m not as hungry but I haven’t fasted yet. I drink at least 16 glasses of water a day. I don’t have sugar. I haven’t been eating out. I know we all hit a wall but mine came so early and I want to push past it. I did workout last night with some cardio but I’m down only 6oz and that’s with eating only 12g of carbs that day. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take the 6oz but I don’t feel I’m ready for a long fast yet. I still wake up hungry in the morning. Much needed advice and help. Btw, my husband is doing amazing. His fasting blood checks are not as high as last week’s dr visit. He’s down just under 20lbs. Huge victory for him! Thanks for the help
Gaining weight?
First off if you’re weighing daily or multiple times per week you should use some sort of program/app to take a trend so you don’t get twisted up in the NORMAL weight fluctuations that happen to all of us.
It sounds like you’re doing everything right, keep going!
It’s typical to have a sizable drop initially, mostly water and it’s also typical for the ladies to go through a “stall” for lack of a better term after. Some think, and it makes sense to me, that keto needs regulate hormones before triggering weight loss. You being at day 12 says you need to hold the line and keep going.
completely agree. I move within a kg and can drop or gain over night for no apparent reason. I do weigh daily and have learnt how much my weight fluctuates within my norms. Weight loss rarely takes a straight path (especially for women). If it really freaks you out it may be better to weigh less often - like monthly - so that you don’t see these changes?
I’ve been doing Keto since March 1, and I’ve had the same issue, but I know that it should all work out. I had one week where my blood sugars were perfect, and now they are back to over 100, however not horrifically so. I believe in the program, and tons of people who have had success, so I’m sticking with it. Thank you for posting this, seeing the answers just helped me know it will be ok!
