Frozen sausage patties

Is the frozen sausage patties you get at Wal-Mart ok? Or does it have bad added “stuff”?

I use them because they are convenient. Only takes about 40 seconds in the microwave to thaw one out. Top with Rao’s marinara sauce, some diced onions, and shredded Italian cheese, back in the microwave until the cheese is melted, and you have a meatza!

But they’re definitely a junk food and not a high-quality meat product. :frowning:

I went to Costco and got a big “tube” of Jimmy Dean natural pork sausage. Looks like this, only larger size:

Careful not to get the “premium” one; has corn syrup, monosodium glutamate, etc.

I just make a bunch of sausage patties; fry em up; throw em in the freezer in a baggie; and when want one it only takes a short time in the microwave on about medium power (I want to warm them, not cremate them) to have a fresh, hot sausage patty.

Pretty much any pre-made, packaged foods have added “stuff”. The carb count on the nutritional label will almost certainly show you how many carbs have been added.
If you get a patty press, you can make your own from any sausage. Find some sausage links that you like that have a nutritional label that indicates 0 net carbs. Take them home, make a cut along the length of the raw sausage and you can peel the casing off. Voila, you have ground sausage meat.

Make a batch, put some parchment or wax paper between the patties and freeze them in a freezer bag.
They’ll keep for months. (sausage being a fatty meat mixture, it freezes very well).
