Freezing Pork Belly

(Stephanie Sablich) #1

I am trying pork belly for the first time today! However, this was more an attempt to use it before it spoils, and there is no way I can eat it all before commencing my 7-day fast tomorrow.

If I wanted to use this later for tacos or fried cauliflower rice, could I brown this and then store it in a freezer until after my fast? I have the pre-cooked stuff from Trader Joe’s, sliced into about 10 slices.

How long is your fast? It should keep in an airtight container for at least a week, in the fridge.

Red meat and pork can remain in the refrigerator up to 5 days and can be frozen for 4-12 months. Leftover cooked meat will last 3-4 days in the refrigerator and 2-6 months in the freezer. Ground meats (beef, veal, pork, or poultry) can be refrigerated for 1-2 days and frozen for 3-4 months.:yum:

Hoooray! Thanks, friends

The fast is 7 days. I’ll pop the cooked meat in the freezer to be safe and reheat/finish browning next week!

I forgot a ziploc bag is best because you can remove the air to prevent ice crystals forming and if storing longer than a week double bag and always date and description
