My work finally expanded their coffee nook selections from vanilla creamer and sugar packets to a variety of creamers, halt & half, artificial sweeteners and… stevia and monk fruit?!

I can eat both without any side effects so I was escatic… until I looked at the ingedients. It has fructose. One small step forward and then one step backwards.

I hardly use sweeteners but somtimes the coffee is burned at work and a little stevia solves the problem. It would have been nice to not bring my own but I’ll keep my stash for now. It’s nice to see them trying to cater to everyone though.

So odd(and sad) that they sneak that fructose in there. That’s going to stop a lot of folks from trying their product.

I grabbed a SALT packet from the lunch area during an IF to get some iodine for my cold finger tips. Diamond Crystal Brands, Savannah GA. Salt; Sodium Silicoalumnate, Dextrose and Potassium Iodine.

Why must salt be sweet?

(Stephanie Tebbs) #4

Seriously?! That blows my mind. Just reinforces my belief that I have to check the ingredients on everything.

It’s not for sweetness. I think it helps keep it from caking up. Shelf life is the only concern these days.

I ordered some straight sucralose on Amazon. A tiny bit sweetens a lot, but I like that there are no bulking agents in it.

I haven’t tested my reaction to sucralose. Could you send me the link to the stuff you ordered? I’m an Amazonaholic.

After listening to the Salt Fix episode of 2KD, I started adding salt to my coffee. It really cuts down on the bitterness! Just a little bit goes a long way and helps me reach my sodium goals.

FYI!! At Starbucks(definitely in Texas), if you ask for stevia, this is the exact product you get. Better to always bring your own and post sweeten. The “sugar free” syrups also have maltodextrin in them. :frowning:

I also thought this would be convenient while fasting. Not so much.

I found this at BJ’s (a wholesale club) yesterday and was thrilled! Then furious to find fructose in the ingredients. What a joke
