I agree with Diane M you learn from failure, I too had head pains at times and when I smell breads or carb food I so love it, but I tell myself I don’t need i t and walk away, it becomes easier every day to eat the right way, I see a lot of videos for ideas or inspiration, I also learned that it works better for those that just keep it simple, cut out certain things and substitute with other foods. You can do it never give up an dont let your fears overwhelm you, just keep trying.
“happier” by gretchen rubin is her podcast yes. She is a keto low carber herself
I agree with Stabla-- I found listening to the podcast every day have my inspiration and motivation as well as the knowledge to really understand why I am doing this. Good luck
I started with better than before, I didn’t start “the four tendencies”
So far I go by what I know from the podcasts. started at episode 1 and am at ep 48 atm.
I am sure my cortisol levels plummeted since I know how to handle the Rebel I have at home.
Plus I create good and strong reasons for me to stick to my habits
I want to take a moment to thank you for your very practical advice. It was in response to someone else’s post, yet I have implemented some of your ideas and I’m down 7 lbs in 12 days.
This after a 7 month stall and re-gain.
Tracking… mostly under 1,500 calories.
40 net carbs
45 minutes exercise daily
I think the thing that is helping most is keeping a progress chart . As you noted, this helps us to stay the course when we have been less than perfect.
Thanks !!!

Heads Up Health makes it easy to track your breath ketones along with all of your other important health data.
I’ve noticed with myself that what I experience being new with Keto doesn’t necessarily match the majority of results. It gets frustrating when you feel your body just isn’t cooperating with you, especially when you try so hard. I ended up telling myself “Slow and steady wins the race”. Apparently that’s just how I’m going to do it, and in your own way, you have to as well. Stay strong!
In what ways do you feel like you’re not getting the typical results?
Just a lot of people say the fat just melt right off the first few months once you in ketosis but for me even with keeping total carbs, not net, at 12g-16g a day and watching my protein and eating fat to satiety, it comes off slowly. The good thing is it does come off just a pound at a time not a bunch so I’m trying to stay positive.
I struggled all week with high stress at work, with my PhD dissertation, and life in general. Being in a stall for all of February and March so far didn’t help. I was carb crazed. Felt horrible, but couldn’t stop binging on the junk. I had headaches, leg cramps, old injury flare-ups, felt like I’d been on a bender, and started falling asleep in the evenings after work. Decided, if it made me feel this bad, I had to kick the sugar and high carb foods for good. So, today, I started anew. I don’t think I’ll ever fall so hard again.
I had my first fall-back last week, and this whole week I have been thrown off, not feeling right, having carb-cravings, having loads of hunger, and completely stalled. Bummer! But I’m back on the horse again as well, back to tracking my macros carefully and excited to feel that good keto feelings once again
back in ketosis today… feeling pretty good, dropped the few pounds I put on with my carb-fest… my work crew has a birthday lunch tomorrow and before I might have been tempted with the Chinese take-out… instead, I plan on brining my regular keto-rrific lunch to eat while joining in on just the camaraderie…
