First Week Done - I think I taste it

(gideon825) #1

Done with my first week of Keto. Stuck to it every day. Have a picture of all the food I ate in MFP linked below.

My question: I’m a picky eater in general, so the foods below are pretty much what I’ll be eating routinely. Does this look OK?

I can taste the Ketosis in my mouth already I think. Also much healthier bm’s then I have had in 8 months since my gall bladder was removed!

WEEK 1 DIARY

(What The Fast?!) #2

Are you full eating 800-1000 calories a day? I’m not criticizing - I’m curious.

(Jessica) #3

And are you consuming more sodium than your diary shows?

(gideon825) #4

the first few days i may have because i was running out of keto appropriate foods to eat. however since then I’ve been between 1200-1500.

(gideon825) #5

my diary is exactly what i’m eating and i input most of the nutritional values myself because i recognized that many existing in My Fitness Pal were incorrect so it should be fairly accurate. Why do you ask?

(gideon825) #6

remember to look at the totals column, not the goals for the most part, i didnt pay for MFP so i cant set a sugar or sodium goal, only carbs protein fat and calories

(Jessica) #7

I ask because there is a special need to pay attention to electrolytes while on Keto…especially sodium. I was curious if your only sodium intake was your diet or if you were supplementing with salt. Your sodium intake is low for Keto.

(gideon825) #8

How sodium, potassium & magnesium should I be getting?

(Brad) #9

Personally I would up the fat and lower the protein a little. Also the calories seem a little low, but if you are full don’t worry about it.

(Dude Man) #10

Take 2 teaspoons of salt a day. In half teaspoon increments or with food. Magnesium, take epsome salt baths before bed. Potassium, eat avocado.

Hi Brad, thanks for advice, I’m actuallly usually not feeling hungry and eat exactly three time a day. I agree I’d like my fat to be at 70% and protein 25% and carbs 5%. Which they are close but I need to find a good way to get extra fat to balance out the end of my day instead of something that has equal amounts of both. I think I’m going to do a table sooon of butter in my tea at night. Would that be enough to even it out?

(Brad) #12

Adding butter is a great way to swing the ratio. Also don’t forget to count it if you cook with it.
