First Somewhat Extended Fast

(Jeff Davis) #1

I have been Keto for almost five months and have been intermittent fasting for the past two months, with some success. I’m down almost 40 lbs. since I started, and have about 10 more that I would like to lose.

I haven’t done any fasting more than 24 hours, mostly just because I didn’t think I could handle it psychologically/mentally. But today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, and I am going to try to kick off Lent with a three day fast. I plan to have some HWC in my coffee and tea, but nothing more than that if I can help it. I know many of you have done much longer fasts, so I’m sure I can make it through with your support!

Sounds great - looking forward to hearing how you go. :+1:

You might want to have a glass of water with some salt (I like the sodium/potassium light salt blend). And flavored sparkling water (no sweetener) is good also. Hang in there.

You can do it!

Feeling pretty good into day two. Just passed the 36 hour mark. I’m going to cut back a bit on HWC and keep going!

Day three. Feeling fine. I felt a little tired yesterday, but nothing debilitating. A bit hungry at times, but fine now. I had a very restless night of sleep, but that could easily be work-related stress and unrelated to the fast. I plan to break either tonight after 72 hours, or tomorrow morning.

I’m down between five and six pounds after 55 hours of fasting, and I know that some of that will come back on when I start eating again.

I think this is definitely something that I can incorporate into my regular intermittent fasting, maybe doing a three-day fast once or twice a month.
