First solid BM after 29 days of Carnivore

(Dai Kon) #1

After 29 days of having semi-diahrrea/liquid trips to the toilet, I had my first solid #2. Small yet had a shape and made me super happy. it seems like my body is now transitioning into this new way of eating. I was honestly worried that my #2 trips were going to be miserable for the foreseeable future but today changed it.

Thank you guys for all of the support and for having such a welcoming and informative community! I will keep you guys updated.

We love a good poopy ending here.

I hear you - often the same deal here. I pretty much accept it, but there are still ā€˜ups and downs’ or better days than others. I do think the body adapts and ā€œgets usedā€ to things, though it may be weeks or months in doing so. Ah well - better than doing nothing, by far.

(Robin) #4

Have you been taking magnesium citrate or carbonate? If so, try cutting back on it.

(Wendy) #5

Have been on strict Carnivore for about 2mo. The other day was the first ā€œNormalā€ BM. But I spoke too soon. Didn’t last. Went from 40mg to 20mg of Omeprazole. Tomorrow I will stop it. :crossed_fingers: Was wondering if that may change the stomach acid and hopefully will normalize the BM’s??
Discontinued Coffee and Stevia. With some hopes of normalizing the bathroom trips also. Guess wel see???

(Robin) #6

Oye! Gave up your coffee with sweetener!? You’re made of sturdier stock than me! I have that plus heavy cream multiple times a day.

(Megan) #7

Drinking one now! I’ve drunk coffee with unsweetened almond milk for many years, then switched to cream when I went carni. No way could I go back.

As for the bathroom trips, crazy watery BMs for about 6 weeks. Still very soft, with some watery days. Thankfully on carni I almost never want to fart b/c boy is it not safe to!

The same just with coconut milk  I had my lactose free years and anyway, I extensively used coconut on low-carb and then on keto… I quite liked coconut.

After some time I stopped having coconut milk and made it again for a change, it didn’t taste right. My taste doesn’t tend to change much (I mean, what my tastebuds feel, my preferences do change) but it happened with this.

And cream and coffee is a match made in heaven anyway. It’s the best. For a rich coffee I use eggs too and I had a time when I enjoyed coffee only with egg and butter but it passed, I just miss the cream in it.

Now I quit coffee again. Cream too. They tend to go together anyway…

I can’t say much about the main topic as I never have any problem regarding that. But my longest carni time was only 2 weeks long. (But my body is pretty stable regarding these things anyway.) And I did things gradually, low-carb years, keto/low-carb years, carni trials… It probably matters but there are other important factors too, obviously.

Unfortunately I can’t do heavy whipping cream! Although I Love it. Allergic to the dairy protein. Yeah was very tough for about 3 days. Doing better now. Just drink Hot water with Kerry gold salted butter. Guess it hits the spot and keeps the morning routine of a hot drink. Today’s my first day no Omeprazole. Hope I have no problems… Guess wel seešŸ¤ž

Husband warns! ā€œNever trust a fartā€!!

yup more power to you.
I am very small every single day slide out in the bathroom morning person and OMG I love this bathroom lifestyle, lol which is what a normal nature life should be.

you are changin to all the good and I am so happy you did just that. means the guts and hormones and good bacteria coming all in line, keep the great movement forward as it will for you I am sure!

(Robin) #12

Oh, Wendy, I m hopeful I will never have to give up my heavy cream. But I have had to greatly limit cheese, so the day may come. I do enjoy coffee black, but I LOVE my coffee, cream, and stevia drops.

Yeah bought some Shamrock HW for my husband. It’s real hard to open fridge and see it calling me. But No!! I know the consequences. I was drinking black coffee. And Loved it. But with the gut issues, and sore rear end. I’m ready to try everything. Today I’m more nervous about not taking the Omeprazole. Been on it for yrs. Have weaned it gradually. But that choice should help regulate my gut bacteria. And hopefully end the bathroom trips. The encouragement helps. This forum is great. Helps tremendously during transition. To hear everyones personal journey.

My brain is tired and sleepy now and when I have read this (with much time since I have read the previous comments) I thought about some gadget named Shamrock HW that keeps people from getting into the fridge easily, the door is super hard to open so one think twice if they are really want to eat…

I resist cream easily enough as long as I don’t open the bag/box… (Or don’t try to drink coffee as it’s not the same without cream but I got better with that.)
And with 1-2 cream bags/boxes per month, I think twice to open one (and promptly inform my SO that he should use up as much as he can. it’s never much but it helps me not drowning my life into my creamy coffees for too long. I can drink zillion coffees with 200-250ml cream and that’s not good for me).

(Wendy) #15

My trick is to just let him do all the meal choices. And he gets in the fridge to pull something out. Thank goodness he doesn’t want the cream around all the time. Cause the temptations would be too great!!

Hi Robin,

I just take magnesium glycinate before bed.

(Robin) #17

Powder or pill? If you simply can’t find an answer, I would try reducing or eliminating mag for. While, just so you can rule it out, if nothing else.
Mine caused lots of gurgling and the runs for a very long time until I was able to fine tune it (I use a powder.)
It didn’t take long to see the difference.
I will admit I will take the runs over my -re-keto constipation from carbs.

(Wendy) #18

Well yesterday was a no go. Had terrible acid reflux after I broke my 20hr fast. And had beef short ribs and eggs. Tried to tough it out. But between bathroom runs!! I decided to take a 20mg Omeprazole. We’ll figure i didn’t give the weaning, long enough. Was only 2 weeks. Il give it a little more time. I have been on the 40mg for many yrs. Guess it takes time for the body to adjust. Going to stop the butter for a week and see if that helps the bathroom runs!! At this time I don’t take any supplements. Proved potassium is a nightmare!! Don’t think my rear end could handle them right now. Just a waiting game. Will continue on!!

Wendy not sure on your zc journey at all but one side effect of your med you are taking is the dreaded D. so?

Key being when one goes ZC it is recommended we drop all meds/supps we take to find us thru the big elimination phase of this lifestyle.

one user who is zc was taking some ā€˜keto supps’ and gut ā€˜supps’ but when dropped life changed all to the better so this shows one person got better  and while this is not a norm or any type of science to it all LOL key being, it means the poster followed the plan lifestyle recommendations.

eat meat…no butter in water. ugh.

butter is actually dairy.

key being for all best way forward, while I don’t drink coffee, no draw ever on making some bulletproof whatever coffee I can’t go there but thing is that dairy is messing with ya big time and while it stinks to drop…drop it all. coffee weakest you can handle but dairy is the focus in what I am saying on drinks. Carnivore is all about food we eat, drinks can screw us over easily for some.

again key being how are YOU personally OFF it all?
don’t know til ya do it but also remember, you can experience ICKY times thru adaption and heal changes to the guts so you think, I dropped this all and got worse, when it is what needs to happen to get ya balanced and better. storm before the calm if the zc plan is done as it should be for some.

OK THIS IS JUST chat  just meat chat food for thought :sunny: things to consider.

20 hr fast? also this is not recommended if you are zc. I am not sure if you are all in carnivore? just a gray area for me to chat with ya on it from what I am reading here???

the wait game is stop all crap and go all in carnivore and dump dairy cause I know this is a big gut issue for so many but also as we change, some can then handle dairy back…it is ā€˜heat’repair and then re-balance hormones, change gut status as needed and the body will do it all’ if you all zc, which is meat/seafood fish and fowl to do that for ya with no supps when we walk this path and go rouge into what real carnivore can bring us but each path is wild and wooly cause we ain’t the same ever so

again, just chat on it all cause 2 mos carnivore is very early but from reading I see some changes you are trying to maybe? handle? but not quite going all in and doing all the carnivore recommendations?

again, being nice on it all LOL no battle on it but zc is meant as a super elimination plan and that is what it takes for alot of us to find best way forward and I had to do it too…so chat on carnivore is always a good thing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I started ketovore in March. And transitioned to carnivore. Never could do any dairy. Was just using butter. But now that’s done too. No coffee, tea. Just soda stream water. Gives you the bubbles, just eat grassfed beef,Elk,deer, and Some wild caught Salmon. Have lowered my metopolol from .50mg to .25mg. My BP this am was 104/70 hr-60 before any meds. Figured I will be able to drop that soon also. Waiting on thyroid tests to come back. That has changed also. Like they say we didn’t get these health issues overnight. Going to take some time to heal. Just have to hang in there. It’s only been about 2yrs. I was a ā€œdreadedā€ vegetarian for 8yrs prior!! I have alot of healing to do…
