Hello All,
New to this forum and my first post.
I joined in the hopes of sharing my experience and perhaps track it here.
My journey began a year ago when my doctor (who is great and more concerned with wellness that treating symptoms) suggested I move to a Paleo diet. After he shared the details and I did research, I did and lost a good bit of weight fairly quickly, but ultimately fell off the wagon and gained it back.
About 30 days ago I decided that I could no longer procrastinate.
I am 46 years old, 250#'s, and 5’10. I will see I am blessed with very dense muscle, that is, I carry the weight well as much of it is muscle. Regardless, these is still a lot of fat. My ideal weight is about 185-190 depending on rather I seek to actively build muscle.
So, I have done 2 things at the same time.

Implemented the Keto diet. I find it easy and quite frankly, enjoy it. I have never been a big sugar fan, so that was easy, but I sure as hell miss Nachos,…

Began intermittent fasting. Note that I feel into this by accident. I travel 4-5 days a week and my schedule was such that I ate a small breakfast at about 9:30, big lunch at 1, and then dinner at about 7. So I was already going about 14.5 hours between dinner and breakfast.
Over the past month I have moved that to two meals, Lunch at 1:00 and then Dinner at 6:30. So at the end of the day, I fast for 18.5 hours and off fast for 5.5 hours. Note that my doctor is aware of what is going on and under his supervision.
The first few days we interesting, but I will say now that I am able to move through the fast easily with no hunger whatsoever.
My biggest change to the diet has been the amount of veggies and greens I consume. ALOT more than I ever have before and because I eat that first, my animal protein ends up being about 6 oz per meal. Fats are above that and are mainly made up of oils and items such as avocados.
Anyhow, long story short I am about 25 pounds lighter and need to go buy new clothes!!
Just wanted to share my early story and hope to learn much from you all here.
Thanks!
I will say that this has made a huge difference.
