I committed to keto full-on in March, and just got my first lab results since that time, and my A1c is down from 7.8 to 6.3! My doc said that if I keep up the progress, I may be able to go off metformin in a few months.
The weight loss has been great (slow but steady, which works for me), but now I have a new short-term goal: to get my A1c below 5.7 in time for my next round of labs (which are scheduled for early December).
Last year Thanksgiving tripped me up after starting keto for the first time, throwing me off track for months before I finally got back to it, but this year in the Charlotte vs. Thanksgiving battle royale, Thanksgiving is getting SERVED. With a side of dark meat, buttery green beans and plenty of keto gravy!
