First fast - weight loss

I am doing my first extended fast! I am on day 3 (started Sunday, last meal finished at 5:40pm). I plan to go until Friday, 5:40pm. I have had only water (sparkling too) and black coffee. I took some salt and magnesium pills yesterday.
I have the worst headache today though. I feel fine otherwise, I guess. A little strange/different but not bad.

When I started, I was exactly 10 pounds “overweight” (according to the BMI chart) and I have lost 5 pounds since fasting! Yay! At this rate, Friday I should be 3 pounds away from being “normal” LOL
How much do you think will stay off when I re-feed Friday evening? I think I’ll be going pretty close to zero carb Friday evening, and back to under 20 the following days.

Could need more sodium.

As far as how much you put back on, depends on what you eat. Some foods are inflammatory, some can cause you to hold water, etc. Obviously, restricting carbs is the best way to minimize regain.

That’s difficult to answer. I usually lose 5-7 pounds the first day. Here’s my data from a 96+ hour fast earlier this year:

For reference, my scale weight this morning was 202.0.

I think I’ll try to take more salt today and see if it helps the headache.

That’s a lot of fasting! Don’t know how you do it :smiley: I’m not sure I’m going to do this again - having to keep feeding my kids (and husband) makes this slightly torturous…question - when you eat after fasting, are you staying strict keto or zero carb? I’m hoping that makes a difference and I get to keep most of the weight off. Probably just wishful thinking though.

I did an 80+ hour fast last week, and here’s my weight chart for the couple of weeks. See if you can spot where I was fasting :slight_smile:
