First day finished ...question?

#41

@FatMan
Absolutely! I only eat what looks tasty to me. I was also encouraged to make myself smoothies and steam food. I dont like steamed fish or steamed anything. I like fried fish. I dont like to drink green slime and pretend I like it. So thats supposed to be good for me? Thats more like taking medicine. I think I would drink it and then eat a bar of chocolate just to get that satisfied feeling. Keto absolutely is my way of eating, and I dont miss the bread and I love my thai curry with cauliflower rice.
Thankfully I am not big on alcohol. Not a fan- used to drink diet coke all the time- now its mineral water with some apple vinegar and that has that sour “twang” to it too. HOWEVER- I was in Spain and had the best Rioja. And I bought 6 bottles when I found the same brand here, and now it sits in my cellar and I wont touch it. I guess maybe it doesn’t tempt me as much as sauce béarnaise on a filet mignon…lol…but maybe one day I will have a glass if there is cause for a celebration.

@Marknel
Excellent quote.
Contempt. Thats a topic in itself.
I get a lot of contempt simply because I am now heavy. When I was slim guys would hold open a door for me. Now you get that door slammed in your face. People don’t respect overweight people. I am hoping that will change too.

Wow you have inspired me. I have a big amount to lose too. Did you get loose skin? I’m worried about that as I lose weight. I have always been slim or a healthy weight and in the last two years and two months got quite big.

In at least one of his videos, Jason Fung says that no one in his clinic doing fasting needed surgery for loose skin after they’ve lost a lot of weight.
I have a little bit of loose skin than isn’t too bad. It seemed to have tightened up a bit in the last couple of weeks. I think it will improve more.
Of course if I end up not being able to model swimwear and go on the cover of fashion mags, then I can always go back to a much shorter life living on meds and waiting/hoping to die.
My arms have the worst loose skin. The pics below shows what I was like before starting (no posed before pics) and after losing 45kg. My skin has tightened up a bit since the last 2 pics. I put on 60kg over 20 years. Wish it was only a couple of years like you.

It may seem daunting in the beginning and seem unreachable, but even just one pound a week, which some people complain about, will have you down over 100lb after 2 years. Better than adding a pound a week over that time. I had 2 big stalls of 2 to 3 months each last year where I didn’t lose any weight, but then it would start again. My body was reshaping during those stalls though and I was getting improvements, just not on the scales.

Wow, thanks for the support. I looked at your photos and to tell you the truth, I can’t even notice your loose skin. Yes, I was going to start a year ago but ended up making excuses. I think to start a new lifestyle you really have to feel completely ready. Something just hit me in December and I thought, “I’m going to make 2020 the year I get healthier”. I come from a weight obsessed family (My parents and brother were horse race jockeys) so I’ve always felt under pressure to be thin. I battled anorexia on and off from age 12 to 28. So after being 40kg in 2016 and being too weak to move and always hungry and cranky, I was like “ahhhhhh food, gimmi more”. Then over the two years I got bigger and bigger. I hate it, I’m too embarrassed to see my Mum or family as they are all super thin and weight obsessed. They don’t even know I got big. I’m doing well, but I have trouble eating a lot of food. I don’t like breakfast, so I have two coffees with double cream. My two meals a day arnt very big portions, I try to put as much fat as I can in them but it’s difficult. I think with my history, I need to learn not to fear fat. If I’m hungry in between I have a bit of cheese. It’s only day 5 so early days. Thank you and well done with your weight loss. Your an inspiration.:ok_hand:

I can relate. I used to get wolf whistles down the street. Guys would fight over me ( I’m gay so I hated it) now it’s like I’m invisible. The world is so superficial.

Trust your body. If you aren’t hungry then don’t eat. I wouldn’t normally recommend someone to intermittent fast so early but the golden rule is, if you’re not hungry then don’t eat. Your only goal for the day is to keep your carbs (net) below your target. Fat and protein should be consumed to satiety. If satiated, as you are, don’t eat.

Simples :grin:

You will find lots of people on here with similar stories to yours.
Chances are you’ll get lots of good advice. My only advice is to make a start and don’t give up. Failure is not an option.

Just ate a decent lunch. Only 4 carbs and 530 calories. Am SO full. I think because of all the fat in it. I even for the first time ever, ate the fat on the meat. Thanks for your support. I won’t need to snack this afternoon as I’m totally satisfied.

You are off to a great start, Aimee, that is fantastic =).

Thank you so much. I am actually feeling great. Not craving carbs or sugar at all. And as for the keto flu, I was feeling rubbish anyway from coming off pain medication so compared to that, it’s nothing. I’ve been drinking 3.5 litres of water a day and before the lifestyle, I only drank coffee twice a day and a bit of juice so my body feels so hydrated. My headaches have stopped and my skin is glowing. I tried to do Keto in 2016 but i treated it as a quick fix and did it totally wrong. I literally starved myself. I was dizzy and weak and always starving hungry, and then would binge on pizza and lollys. Not good. Tgen i would cry myself to sleep. Im making sure i eat until im full now. I love this support forum. Thank you :blush:

I don’t know if anyone mentioned it yet but there’s a free version of an app called cronometer where you can type your food in and it will keep track of your carbs, fat and protein (as well as micronutrients). It could be a helpful tool.

Also, I noticed you mentioned juice. If it fits into your daily carb allowance, great but do read the label. Other ideas are water, sparkling water, tea.

(Keto Koala 🐨) #53

No, i drank juice before the lifestyle :joy::joy::joy:. Only water and green tea now.

(Mark Nelson) #54

I tried the cronometer app and for black coffee it gave me 7 different options for dietary information all with carbs. Seems like junk to me.

I have lost 60 of 80 lbs and am happy with the condition of my skin. I think it is tightening up nicely, at least better than in the past or what I had hoped. Unlike you, I have lost and gained a great amount of weight 3-4 times in my life and been mostly overweight in between, i.e. my skin is probably way more stretched than your’s. I bet you will have great results with your skin being generally tight to begin with. Just eat clean, eat enough, stay the course, live your life, and you will see great things happen.

Best. :blush:

Every bloody app says different things for the same item :pensive:
