First Date + EF... Help!

So, being the single, amazing, finals-procrastinator I am, I have a couple of dates set up this weekend. I also started a 7 day fast about 4 hours ago… meaning that I’ll have been fasting for days by Saturday, and especially Sunday evening. Saturday should be okay- I think the most we’ll do is grab coffee/tea, so that is easy peasy. Sunday evening though… we’re going to meet at a bar.

I don’t drink much anyway, and DEFINITELY, don’t want to break the fast. However… is there a way to do this without just ordering water? I’m normally pretty chill about not drinking (it’s just not a big deal) but I feel a bit strange saying, “I just don’t drink” to this person and then order water. One, it’s not true. Two… I am meeting him at a bar. Also, is my tolerance going to be insanely low?

Order a club soda with a squeeze of lemon or lime.

Cranberry and soda used to be a favourite of mine, but it has too much sugar - it’d break your fast…hell, it might even knock you out of ketosis. :open_mouth:

Oh - also, if you beat your date to the bar, you could order in advance, then you just tell the bartender you’ll have another - your date won’t have any idea if it’s a gin and tonic or some other clear fizzy drink. :slight_smile:

It’s not like I’m embarrassed to not be drinking… I’ve just already established myself as a VERY COOL person by asking if we could do early evening drinks… since I get up at 4:30 in the morning. He called me Grandma Stephanie. Bahahaha.

Heh, well, if the bartender flubs it “That’s a soda and lime, right?” or your date asks, just explain that you’re doing a fast to try to heighten your mental clarity - and leave it there. Most people are pretty understanding (more and more people are becoming more health conscious - it’s only a good thing!) :slight_smile: Maybe the date after you try to convert them over to the Keto lifestyle…maybe with a meal!! (after you’ve broken your fast of course) :slight_smile:

Hahaha, that’s totally fair. I like that language, and it’s not untrue :slight_smile:

And… I’d probably be less concerned about all of this (I am a much too experienced dater) if he didn’t LOOK quite so health conscious :wink:
