Has anyone been completely exhausted after 1 week. And I feel as though I’m retaining water.
Firat week on keto
It could be not getting enough water and salt. Try for 64 ozs (2 liters) of water per day and 2+ teaspoons of salt.
My husband was exhausted the first three weeks as his body slowly shifted into ketosis. He was drinking enough water, but drinking ACV did help him some. It is tough getting through the first couple of weeks.
Yep! Took me 3 weeks before i had energy again
Its likely the body detoxing from sugar and learning to burn fat as fuel.
You could up your salt
Drink more liquids
Take a Vitamin B12 tablet 1x per day to help
Add some Vitamin D into your diet.
Add some caffine from tea or coffee
Soem say coconut oil helps too(starts small)
For me, I was exhausted for the first couple of weeks as my body transitioned into ketosis. Don’t give up, I promise it does get better.
I felt rotten the first couple of weeks. Typically I would wake up exhausted and didn’t feel right until I had some coffee and drank some water. I started doing some electrolyte supplementation (adding 1/2 tsp lite salt for sodium and potassium to some lemon water and taking a magnesium supplement pill) and felt better. I made that an every morning routine.
Drink lots of water, whether with salt added or not. Oddly enough, staying well hydrated will prevent you from retaining water and will help you lose weight.
I am in week 11 now, and just yesterday I was feeling cold and tired. I was just dehydrated. I drank 1 cup coconut milk, 1 cup almond milk, 12 oz lemon-infused water with lite salt, three cups of herbal tea. Back to back. Not because that is some special recipe for health. Because I was thirsty. Felt perfectly fine after that.
Yup I was similar. As these guys have said, electrolytes, water and time should sort you out
It will pass! One day you will wake up feeling like you’ve had a thousand years of the most refreshing, energising sleep and then these first couple of weeks will be a distant memory! Good luck
Like it or not…
Make sure you’re getting your electrolytes, you’re depleting them like crazy, especially early on.
Carbs under 20g, eat plenty good food also helps.
The body’s normal, higher rate of excreting sodium and water is reduced by consuming carbohydrate in the kinds of quantities common in the standard American diet, so when we go keto, we need to work a bit at maintaining our salt intake.
